New member asking some tech questions - MrMarlboro - 24-04-2015

Hi I'm new here, I have had my pug306 for a few weeks now its a 1.8 16v meridian. I've been talking to some people about induction kits ect. Are they a waste of time? Or make a difference on a 1.8. And any good brands other than k&n cant quite stretch to a k&n kit yet. And a gti6 intake conversion, are they a twat to do or fairly straight forward?

Useless post. I really cant help you. The bloke you want to speak to is eeyore (Sam) on here. His done a fair bit on his 1.8.

Induction kits don't need to be expensive, buy a good quality filter and the hoses yourself and make it up. 130+ on a filter and a hose is a ripoff lol.

Im gonna say it mate,

Don't shoot me but save up for a 2.0 16v and drop that in Wink There i beat you all hahaha

Seriously though, Sam's the man

Could sell it and get an HDi though (just to piss the petrol guys off) Big Grin

1.8 16v is the best engine they put in the 306. Wink

Induction kit won't add any power but they do sound good on the 1.8. I had a Pipercross one, chose a specific one with the small pipes intergrated so I didn't have to have those extra little cone filters flopping around. Don't remember it costing all that much either, compared to my mates K&N that was bought at the same time (2011) lol.

The only think was when I looked at buying a hose and cone, was the pipe what goes to the inlet manifold, has a pipe going into it. Just put a hole in the new piece of pipe? Would like a silicone coolant hose be alright? Or too flexible?

Is it gonna matter too much if that breather pipe is connected to the inlet pipe? And what diameter hose do I need for a 1.8 16v
