clutch spongy, not working, topped up fluid but no change x

What car? What model? What symptoms? Have you bled it? Sure its not a cable. Seriously need more info than just that

It's a 306.. explained in chat the clutches aren't hydraulic

Maybe they are on about gearbox fluid?

Probably washer fluid...

Sounds like a failed release bearing to me, pedal moves in a spongy way but won't disengage clutch?

Nah failing cables or release bearings can give a spongy feel but like others have said,all 306s are cable clutches so topping up any fluid won't make a difference at all
