Clutch thread. Again. - bashbarnard - 23-03-2015 So I've looked for previous threads on this but cant find any. Admittedly its on taptalk so half the threads probably wont show up. Just need some info. My current build I'm a bit worried about my pretty much brand new valeo. People seem to be slipping them on the gt2052s on the 1.9 let alone the 2.1. So I'm looking for an up rated clutch. Possibly. Want one that's gonna last me not just do 2k. Can I just upgrade the plate like this? http://www.clutch-specialists.co.uk/cg-motorsport-6-paddle-drive-plate-only_p31014435.htm Or a full kit? Can I buy a second hand one and get it relined to save money? I'm pretty tight up ATM RE: Clutch thread. Again. - Paul_13 - 23-03-2015 Yes you can upgrade the plate. http://www.spoox.co.uk/en/306/4073-peugeot-106-s2-rallye-helix-clutch-cover.html I'd rather go for that over the cg one RE: Clutch thread. Again. - bashbarnard - 24-03-2015 £200 is a bit steep at this time for me. ![]() RE: Clutch thread. Again. - mr_fish - 25-03-2015 Mikey runs a OEM Valeo on his VNT - no slip, I ran the same for a time which didn't slip.l I put a paddle in for the hell of it (I do admit its a fairly on/off situation and unsprung means you get gearbox rattle. There is a YouTube video explaining about unsprung clutches and gear chatter. Also Ruan ran one on his VNT AFAIK which had more torque than mine & Mike's and held out quite well I believe. If you referring to Trent's 2052 slipping it, that's just cos of his cable was being an arse. All holds fine now. If you have a Valeo there to fit I'd crack on. Unless you have more in the budget. RE: Clutch thread. Again. - bashbarnard - 25-03-2015 I have a valeo that's done unknown mileage that still has its writing on and I have a valeo in my current setup that I bought new 10k ago RE: Clutch thread. Again. - zx_volcane - 25-03-2015 You gotta weight it all up mate £200 is a bargain for a paddle clutch tbh, doubt very much there is going to be a cheaper option than that If you've got a Valeo to stick in for free, and you're absolutely can't afford a paddle - then stick it in, but with the fact that you may have to change it out at some point in the future, and the arse of a job that involves. RE: Clutch thread. Again. - bashbarnard - 25-03-2015 Think I'm gonna have to do it that way. Hope it holds while I save up for a paddle clutch. May just have to run de tuned for a while. Will just irritate me a little. RE: Clutch thread. Again. - Danny Wideboy - 25-03-2015 My clutch issue with a Valeo has been solved as well, oil leaking onto it,just to reassure you a bit. I'm gonna bang my brand new one in and hope for the best, seeing Mikey is still on one gives me a bit of peace of mind. RE: Clutch thread. Again. - Piggy - 25-03-2015 I had a brand new one with my GT2056s. Slipped on a hard 3rd gear pull after 5k or so. Then I went CG! RE: Clutch thread. Again. - bashbarnard - 25-03-2015 so i should be ok until the next turbo upgrade then. gives me time to save to do everything RE: Clutch thread. Again. - Dave - 27-03-2015 my 2p, get a paddle for £150, use stock valeo plate. good for 300lb ft RE: Clutch thread. Again. - Piggy - 27-03-2015 CG paddle clutch kits use valeo pressure plates anyway |
