Which fuel should you use? - Moonwalker - 20-03-2015

I seen on a manual that Peugeot recommend using e97 ron (super unleaded) fuel on a Gti 6, would this make the car run more efficient and run faster?

All comments welcome as always! Smile

i run Shell Vpower in mine and my 6 loves it, used to run momentum99 but wouldn't go back to that now

From what i've seen they do love the premium.

Thanks for the replies! Smile

Are all premium fuels the same quality? Or is Shell V Power the best out of them all?

I use 95. Have never noticed a change using premium.
Might give it another go but doubt it will make a difference.

I'm planning on giving it a go too, I put some in her when I drove her up to Scotland from Preston, but I couldn't compare it to anything as it was the first time I had driven her!

needs an ecu reset to make the most of it

these ecus are volatile memory then?

Have heard conflicting views on petrol quality, some say its all from the same place others say Shell is the best and have their own refineries etc

They go through a self learning process when re-set so if running lower octane fuel will bring the ignition timing back, however they don't take it back forwards.

Mine is happiest on esso 97. We see a big difference in the amount of ignition timing we can put into different fuels.

My colt gti and ZX6r hated anything BUT Shell Vpower

Yeah the GTI6 loves a good 97-99ron fuel! Dont bother with the shitty tesco crap though. Before i went with my omex, i tried a few and V power was by far the best shortly followed by the BP one.

Momentum is consistently better for ignition timing than BP. Find that to be pretty equal with Esso and Texaco tbh, for all the marketing hype - around 25-30BHp on an otherwise standard GTR engine (bar a simple remap, itself worth at least 85BHp on an older car). Not far off V-Power at all.

None of them are anything like what we can do with proper E85 or 105 race fuel - some serious gains to be had, but blinking expensive. We only ever quote on 99 V-Power, unlike a few tuners out there hehe...

RE: Which fuel should you use? - Piggy - 21-03-2015

I thought v power was 97??

RE: Which fuel should you use? - adam b - 21-03-2015

Nah it's 99

RE: Which fuel should you use? - cully - 21-03-2015

copy from Wikipedia

In the United Kingdom and Denmark (where Super Unleaded must be a minimum of 97 RON), V-Power has a rating of 99 RON (whereas V-Power's predecessor Shell Optimax was rated at 98 RON).[1] There is one other 99 RON fuel available in the UK, namely Tesco MOMENTUM99.[2]

RE: Which fuel should you use? - Piggy - 21-03-2015

Ahhh it used to be 98 thats right
