well it was only a matter of time, as he was very, very close last year of been pulled. Only so much a company can bail you out etc, Then they start to get pissed, but I recon he will be back again anyway.

Yeah he has really pushed the limits of controversy Tongue when I saw it it, my first reaction was, it's a publicity stunt and he'll be back in a week or two. Let be honest, topgear viewer numbers must be dwindling

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - procta - 10-03-2015

I know the forum lads love top gear but you got admit it has ran its course now really. its still the same thing
doing daft stuff and put a celebrity in a road car and go for it. how long can you really keep that going? before you run out of ideas

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Piggy - 10-03-2015

Its awesome.
It always will be.
The public have just become vultures demanding to be entertained.

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Poodle - 10-03-2015

Meh, pandering to the general public's desire for crap tv is how they ruined it in the first place, Clarkson's suspension is just a symptom of the deeper rot.

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - 7057sam - 10-03-2015

Is it actually going to happen though ??

I have to say this season I have definitely lost the love for it

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Dum-Dum - 10-03-2015

I think the bbc need to realise that nobody gives a f*ck how much of an arsehole clarkson is. He's like a famous version of Niall, complete arsehole but funny and charismatic with it.

They wont stop making top gear as it makes too much money for the BBC (IIRC like an extra 10% on top of the licence fee) and if the BBC stop it they will go elsewhere.

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - philpemberton94 - 11-03-2015

Everyone loves top gear! I think Clarkson is a legend, i think people are too sensitive nowadays and take things way to seriously. Too be honest i think if they get rid of Clarkson, a lot of people are going to stop watching tg which is the most watched programme in the world.... Fair enough for the suspension, but i think people need to let their hair down.

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Orta - 11-03-2015

I pay £140 a year to the BBC communists for the right to watch doctor who and top gear, and now they've taken one of those away. Just sack him so he can go to channel 4 or sky with Hammond and May and start a new show.

Balls to the bbc

That is the two exact programs I also watch on bbc. Stop being so sensitive he makes them money who gives a shit. A lot worse has gone on inside the bbc

Thanks? I think? lol

Thing is, top gear is very un PC but thats why its funny. It pushes the boundaries of what the public think is acceptable. Issue is, the general public have become poofs and get scared of every single thing that they don't like.

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Piggy - 11-03-2015

society is so 'PC' its not!

You could always report him to the Admin.......oh wait. lol

Couldn't agree more though, as I've said before, I know it's heavily scripted and staged, but I enjoy watching it because it's good entertainment. Screw the killjoys! Big Grin

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Toms306 - 11-03-2015

Must admit, I don't agree with punching someone because they didn't bring you dinner, can't really understand what went on there.

However I do like Clarkson, we have similar humour lol, and I like seeing easily offendable people getting offended. lol Seriously, people need to lighten up, don't take stuff so seriously. Wink

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Eeyore - 12-03-2015

Right.... so yeh we dont know exactly what happened or how serious it was so speculation is pointless.

Topgear is big business for the BBC and it makes loads of money so they arent going to can it whilst viewing numbers are up and people are still buying it.

For anyone saying balls to the BBC or why should we pay licence fees... if you didnt then youd have two more channels like channel 4 and ITV. All shit with adverts for half of the show. The BBC is one of the few tv companies that actually comes out with new programmes and decent content. This is where your money goes... lets say its £140 a year... thats £40p a day or something.... say there are 3 people per household/licence and then its 13p each. Id happily pay 13p a day to not watch adverts and have more and better content! Then again... I could watch it later on iplayer for free...

My issue with the License fee is that I am not given a choice. I pay for sky, that is my choice, I pay for something of my choosing and receive something in return. I do not choose to pay for bbc. If I wasn't required by law they wouldn't get my money. It's gotta be the only state funded television network on the planet outside of the 2nd and 3rd worlds.

Looking at it a different way the government actually taxes you to watch tv! Are you f***ing serious? Do we live in a free capitalist country or soviet Russia? I'm sure they'll tax fresh air and rainbows next.

I believe in freedom and self determination. Where I chose what I do with what is mine, not the government. Life is a game of capitalism so what is the point in the bbc's existence if it's not a commercial enterprise? Television exists because someone invented it to sell to make money, tv channels exist to make money. But the benevolent bbc exists for what? The good of all mankind? Because it's not exactly the impartial broadcaster it's meant to be *cough*socialist agenda *cough*

The license fee goes a long way to lining executive pockets not create original programming. It's the exact situation with your road tax, that doesn't exclusively get spent on roads it just goes into a big government pot... And the tv tax or "license fee" is exactly the same.

So in summary yeah I kinda hate the bbc. Blush

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Eeyore - 13-03-2015

I dont know why people say it lines the pockets of executives. The licence fee in my opinion is instead of adverts and goes towards making new and interesting programmes. Sky is a provider of channels and has a few of its own. It doesnt mean you can pay for sky and get bbc for free. Id rather pay not to have bog roll adverts blasted into my home for 15 minutes of every hour.

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Orta - 14-03-2015

That's all good. But I don't mind adverts if something's free (itv, channel 4 etc) what I object to is that I'm not given the choice.

If you choose to have no adverts and pay, that's fine.
But I also have the right to choose not to pay and have adverts.

But I do not get the choice. Because our freedom is an illusion!!

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Herby7 - 15-03-2015

just have to wait and see

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Toms306 - 15-03-2015

I must admit, I hate adverts, so much that I barely watch anything other than BBC and don't mind paying for that privilege! However I don't like the fact you're forced to pay it just because you have a TV, I agree it should be a choice, just like people choose to pay for all the rubbish AND adverts that are on Sky. lol

But back on topic, it looks like Clarksons finally leaving TG. Sad

No one needs to watch adverts, just pause the telly when your chosen programme starts, go make a brew and a snack, return to said telly, unpause telly and ff through any advert break..... Please don't feel the need to thank me, you're welcome lol Smile

RE: Can't say I didn't see this coming - Ruan - 16-03-2015

If you punch someone whilst at work, it doesn't matter HOW famous you are, or HOW much money you bring in for the business, you should be sacked - it's as simple as that.

The BBC have an obligation to do so, they're in a position where they can't win - if they sack him people will moan, if they don't sack him, people will moan!
