Flushing out heater matrix - lolsteve - 26-12-2014 So think my heater matrix is a bit blocked up from when I ran a bit of rad weld as the fans aren't blowing all that hot until I've been driving the car some time. Perhaps only allowing a small amount of hot coolant through which when it isn't that hot isn't making much of an impact? Been looking into blowing water backwards through the pipes going through the bulk head as now im at my parents i have access to a hose pipe. But just wondering if people have tried the radflush products etc and if that would do any good? http://reviews.halfords.com/4028/777607/reviews.htm RE: Flushing out heater matrix - Toms306 - 26-12-2014 I radflushed the 1.4 back in the day, couldn't believe how much crap came out!! Made no real world difference though lol, engine ran at the same temp and heaters were hot enough anyway. /helpful RE: Flushing out heater matrix - Niall - 26-12-2014 No. At most, flush it with a hose. Don't use any of these flush mixes. Chances are that matrix is pretty rotten and being stopped from springing a leak in a few places by build up. Best bet is to leave it there! And this is why things like rad weld and (for you) HG weld are SOOOO bad. They just sludge everything up and don't really do the job they are designed to do. RE: Flushing out heater matrix - lolsteve - 26-12-2014 ended up doing the HG a couple of days afterwards anyway since it didn't do anything to fix the problem Heater matrix shouldn't be all rusted up though? It's inside the car and they're often ali arn't they? RE: Flushing out heater matrix - Piggy - 26-12-2014 You wont unblock it fella I tested the good ol HG weld before, it worked but blocked the matrix. I really couldnt unblock it. In future, bypass matrix before using this crap RE: Flushing out heater matrix - Eeyore - 26-12-2014 yeh the matrix is probably held together by the crap in it! They really are very thin and tbh a weaklink in the system! |
