RE: Halfords socket sets - MisterGTR - 29-11-2014 I got the 170 kit (best vfm when I purchased). Can't see me ever needing another set. RE: Halfords socket sets - toseland - 29-11-2014 just bear in mind that the ratchets are not covered under their guarantee.. i have had mine for over 10 years and it has had some abuse.. hammer, rediculous externder bars etc.. never faulted. Apparently it changed recently and they are now! RE: Halfords socket sets - daddyfixit - 29-11-2014 yes all rachets are covered under guarantee, trade card guy was in my works 3-4 weeks ago and he told me then....... plus there are going to be more of the larger sets going on sale soon for £99.99, so if you have a discount card you an get 5% off the sale price as well !! RE: Halfords socket sets - E_KEL95 - 29-11-2014 We've got 2 now cant be faulted as said the guarantee is a big plus so what if they break after awhile get a brand new one, plus ive managed to do near everything on the car with the box with a view extras needed here and there id highly rate them ![]() RE: Halfords socket sets - mackat - 29-11-2014 Thanks All ![]() Went in and they where £150, but the guys priced matched to their web site, so got them for £125: [attachment=20332] [attachment=20333] [attachment=20334] [attachment=20335] Managed to repair the blowing exhaust this afternoon with them ![]() RE: Halfords socket sets - puglove - 29-11-2014 Iv had a set of halford sockets for 10 years now and havnt broke anything and i own a 2 1/2 ft bar lol RE: Halfords socket sets - Frosty - 30-11-2014 What do people reckon to the price, do you think they will do it any cheaper after Christmas or this the best price they will do? RE: Halfords socket sets - Toms306 - 30-11-2014 I've never seen the 200pc below £125 yet. That's what I paid and got some back through topcashback. It was slightly more expensive on trade as well. RE: Halfords socket sets - Frosty - 30-11-2014 Will ask mother to get me a early Christmas present then i reckon ![]() RE: Halfords socket sets - Pgtips - 30-11-2014 yes all rachets are covered under guarantee, trade card guy was in my works 3-4 weeks ago and he told me then....... plus there are going to be more of the larger sets going on sale soon for £99.99, so if you have a discount card you an get 5% off the sale price as well !! How do you know this ? ![]() RE: Halfords socket sets - cully - 30-11-2014 trade card does not discount sale prices! it only discounts off retail prices but sometimes it can be better than sale prices its always worth to check before purchase, as if you use trade card on sale prices sometimes it rings more expensive RE: Halfords socket sets - MCH - 30-11-2014 I've got a ratchet spanner set that I bought with some Halfords vouchers I won from one of those people that accost you to do a survey they've been very good and reliable... Also some of the screwdrivers although the screwdrivers are "advanced" rather than their professional and a friend managed to twist one of the blades on one of the smaller flat bladed ones ![]() Oh and I did buy a gert long 30mm spanner ages ago that's been used a fair few times and still looks new so quite pleased with that... Wouldn't mind the black version of their toolboxes RE: Halfords socket sets - Toms306 - 30-11-2014 Should be able to get a twisted blade replaced! I snapped a torx and had it replaced FOC. I snapped a torx and had it replaced FOC. will have to look for the receipt, I'm not too worried anyway as its one of the least used ones, my mate was trying to undo a seized screw at the scrapyard and somehow it just twisted RE: Halfords socket sets - Toms306 - 30-11-2014 Don't think you need the receipt now? I didn't take one anyway lol. RE: Halfords socket sets - MCH - 30-11-2014 (30-11-2014, 09:19 PM)Toms306 Wrote: Don't think you need the receipt now? I was with a mate who'd broken his torque wrench (the square drive had snapped off) and he was adamant that we needed a receipt even though it wasn't very old, clearly said "Halfords" down the side of it and he still had it in the tube it comes in... (later found the receipt) It ended up with us taking him to their tool cabinet which had the policy on the glass and asking him to point out where it stated on that or on the product anything about a receipt... He did replace it but made a big deal of "just this once, I won't do it again" RE: Halfords socket sets - Iceman299 - 30-11-2014 A halfords rep came to our college a few weeks back, he said you no longer need a receipt. Just take it back and it will be replaced foc RE: Halfords socket sets - daddyfixit - 30-11-2014 (30-11-2014, 06:13 PM)Pgtips Wrote: yes all rachets are covered under guarantee, trade card guy was in my works 3-4 weeks ago and he told me then....... if you read my post, the guy was at my works---he told me RE: Halfords socket sets - miles - 30-11-2014 Got my set for £99.00, mind it was 2 or 3 years ago now, But bar one worn out 3/8" ratchet failing but under slightly more load than it should of been, It makes me wonder why people use snap on bar there pay monthly scheme's RE: Halfords socket sets - MCH - 30-11-2014 (30-11-2014, 11:13 PM)miles Wrote: Got my set for £99.00, mind it was 2 or 3 years ago now, But bar one worn out 3/8" ratchet failing but under slightly more load than it should of been, It makes me wonder why people use snap on bar there pay monthly scheme's I quite like teng stuff, much more reasonably priced and far better no quibble replacement policy(than snap-on), got 3 of their torque wrenches in varying sizes, a small socket set (1/4) that I keep in the car and I got my dad a 3/4 ratchet and socket rail with hex sockets ages ago and he's been very happy with them (he already had various teng stuff too) RE: Halfords socket sets - silverzx - 01-12-2014 Nice little kit for £25 if your or a tight budget and want something to tune your Lucas with (e.g. 17 year olds first tool kit). http://www.halfords.com/motoring/garage-equipment/tool-kits/halfords-52-piece-aluminium-tool-set RE: Halfords socket sets - jamiek_uk2000 - 01-12-2014 Great set, I've had mine ten years and I've had about 5 different ratchets after I got a bit excited with a scaffold bar. I highly recommend getting a breaker bar to save your ratchets even if they are covered. Makes life a lot easier. RE: Halfords socket sets - silverzx - 01-12-2014 £5 socket set: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/40-Piece-Socket-Tool-Set-/310782637297 RE: Halfords socket sets - Eeyore - 01-12-2014 Ive had my 150 piece kit for a few years now. Its absolutely fantastic and has everything. This was back in the time when the spanners were open and ring at one end. All your ratcheted spanners were separate and double ended ratchets. RE: Halfords socket sets - nominous - 01-12-2014 (29-11-2014, 04:47 PM)daddyfixit Wrote: yes all rachets are covered under guarantee Woah there. You're saying that the rachet mech is now covered ? So no more having to buy a new mech ? Are they planning to swap the whole tool, or just give out a free mech to DIY replace do you know ? One of mine is due a replacement.... I've got a rachet spanner in a 10mm that I actually bent the end of the spanner to a nice curve. I never replaced it as it's actually bloody handy being curved. Tho I'd love to do it to the others I'm sure it was pure fluke it didn't snap and couldn't be repeated ![]() Can't fault the tools. But the replacement receipt thingy has been a royal PITA at times. Some of my stuff came off ebay quite cheaply and BNIB. You have to wonder if they did it as stuff went walkies with ex employees... |
