Speedometer Doesn't Work - madwelshman - 28-11-2014
Hi folks,
As the title says, my speedo doesn't work. It hasn't worked since I bought the car either.
Today I fitted a known good speed sensor on to the box, plugged it in and tried it. Still no joy
What do you suggest next? Try another dash/instrument panel or should I be looking at the collar that the driveshaft goes through the middle of (I believe that's to do with the speedo)?
Vehicle is a 2001 Peugeot Partner with DW8 engine.

checked the connector itself? checked the cable up to the rest of the loom?

Yeh, both cable and connector appear to be ok.
Thinking about pulling the good sender back out, putting it in the chuck of my drill and with the ignition turned on, run the drill to see if the speedo registers anything. If it does work then, it's to do with whatever turns the gear on the end, which I'm guessing is the white collar I saw inside the housing when I pulled the shaft to replace the centre bearing.
If not is it worth me trying another dash/instrument panel?
