hub nut removal - jayspug86 - 09-11-2014 hi how can I remove a hub nut iv got my brakes off and waiting for calipers to arrive due to replacing so cant put brakes on, iv tried with the wheel on and its just spinning on the ground so need other ideas please RE: hub nut removal - Toms306 - 09-11-2014 Impact gun Or get a fat person to sit on the wing with the wheel on the ground. ![]() RE: hub nut removal - jayspug86 - 09-11-2014 lol I don't have a impact gun RE: hub nut removal - Toms306 - 09-11-2014 What about a fat mate then? ![]() Not sure what else to suggest though! RE: hub nut removal - eskimogod - 09-11-2014 Was it in gear when you had it on the ground? RE: hub nut removal - Dum-Dum - 09-11-2014 Why do you need the hub not off to change the brakes? Anyway car on the ground, chock all 4 wheels, handbrake on, in gear and a very long breaker bar (or extend it with a scaffold pole.) RE: hub nut removal - Piggy - 09-11-2014 Yeah as Dumdum said. Never fails for me. RE: hub nut removal - londondan86 - 09-11-2014 Also to agree with Dum. Don't see how the wheel could spin that far of it was in gear and on the ground. RE: hub nut removal - jayspug86 - 09-11-2014 its not to do my brakes I never said it was lol my brakes are off and I should of undone the hub while brakes were on but I wanted it off to change cv gaitor but done it now I never had it in gear properly RE: hub nut removal - bashbarnard - 09-11-2014 Find old or spare wheel. Steel one. Bolt to hub best you can. Let the car down onto it. Handbrake on and undo it. Job jobbed RE: hub nut removal - londondan86 - 09-11-2014 (09-11-2014, 06:06 PM)bashbarnard Wrote: Find old or spare wheel. Steel one. Bolt to hub best you can. Let the car down onto it. Job jobbed Or push the centre cap out of an alloy (except for clones) RE: hub nut removal - Toms306 - 09-11-2014 Doesn't work with swallows either, 36mm impact socket doesn't fit through lol. RE: hub nut removal - Toms306 - 09-11-2014 There's always one... ![]() I always use the impact anyway lol, much less hassle lol. RE: hub nut removal - londondan86 - 09-11-2014 Are you saying I'm the tool for the job by any chance ![]() Not got an impact gun of my own so always end up using a breaker bar with a scaff bar extention, not had a problem yet RE: hub nut removal - Toms306 - 09-11-2014 Haha, no I wasn't...but its funny how the same sentence can be perceived differently. ![]() Tbh I bought a fairly cheap mains powered impact gun about 3 years ago, one of my best purchases tbh!
