Sachs XUD Clutch. - ADV_93 - 22-09-2014
Evening people, i'm trying to locate the part number for a Sachs standard clutch kit for XUD. Rang all the usual car parts places and none of them stock Sachs. Any help appreciated, thank you.

An luk clutch is made by sachs or sachs make luk one of the two anyway they are good clutches, my mate uses luk on his driving school car and each clutch averages about 18 months keeping in mind he covers a minimum of a thousand miles a week,which if you think about it isn't bad at all with the abuse it gets.

I'll definitely be buying a LUK clutch. But lately i seem to have made more power out of the car, the clutch seems to be... Behaving itself? LUK/Sachs are what i know, never really used Valeo so i don't want to be putting faith in something i've not experienced. (Even though a lot of people on here have run good power on them, and they know what they're on about!)

Stick a national clutch in there fitted loads in the last 12 months can't fault them they have gone on anything from taxis to boy racers to your Nans shopping car!

When it comes to a clutch dont f*ck about, put in whats tried and tested and proven to work well. Not like a valeo is expensive or hard to get hold of.

Anything that's name branded will be within 3% of the oe manufactured part anyway so why pay more! there are loads of cheaper alternatives out there which will do the same job without fault! Just my 2p's worth let's face it were talking about 15+ year old cars without mind blowing performance?

Think I paid about £70 for a valeo. Can pick up genuine on eBay for around that amount as well though I'm pretty sure there valeo anyway

Valeo/LUK are all around £70 including vat. Like i say, it's been behaving itself lately.

Problem is that typically the clutches are being asked to deal with considerably more torque than the manufacturers original specification.
An cheap 2nd rate brand clutch will likely work fine at standard power, but I'd have rather less faith in one coping with another 50% torque over and above that (and more to the point, continuing to cope as the miles clock up)
Given that all the cost is in the labour doing the swap (be it money or your time) it doesn't make sense to me to save a few quid on the parts cost, but that's just my 2p.
Valeo, LuK or Sachs and you won't go far wrong IMO.

Unless you want to spend out on a decent clutch (whatever brand that may be), Buy a branded OEM one, Fit it and learn to drive with some mechanical sympathy.
Mac22 (Conner) runs a stock Valeo and pulled 228 lbft (IIRC) up from the standard 145(?)lbft and hasn't experienced an issue................yet.
