quick question

can the followers be removed and replaced without removing the cam or disturbing the cambelt?

Didn't think that was possible on ohc engines tbh, certainly can't think how you'd go about it....

Only way you might do it is if you can force the hydraulic lifter down, should give you enough room, but frankly you're likely to damage shit in the process!!

maybe a spare hdi on the drive soon

its running like a bag of shit on 3 cylinders theyve swapped the injectors out and its still the same i suspected lifters on No 3 cylinder but the guy is confident its not, il just sit back and buy it for scrap if available Smile

Ive seen it done on a low blow astra, slightly undo the head slightly and push it in with a screw driver, I wouldnt do it like that, but It has been done lol

Sometimes does - they're designed to be a weak point in the engine rather than the valves bending, you'll snap the rockers instead. Sometimes they're a bit too weak!!!

Has anyone actually ever seen a knackered lifter on one of these? I know people have been getting the wrong end of the stick and banging on about dead hydro lifters for years, but has anyone ACTUALLY seen one?

apparently its been overfilled with oil ? will that give a misfire?

Could do yeah, the extra oil will force it's way past the turbo seals and the engine will run on it, causing rough running if not an actual misfire.

car starts ok and runs all but under powered and lumpy with lots of smoke

there maybe atleast 1.5ltrs of oil too much in the engine *grins*

im only a bystander thowing info and looking on, im not holding the spanners on this one as the bloke has no money and wants everything for free which i wont do

Hmm, I'm not sure too much oil would cause those issues, the 206 I had was way overfilled when I got it (either that or it'd been so long since a change that diesel had thinned it to raise the level). But there were no adverse effects from that at all, not quite sure how much overfilled but most of it just fell out of the gaskets and seals as usual. lol

What colour is the smoke?

Can't you try PP on it? Doesn't take long and I'm sure he could give you something for doing that?

1.5l?? Hahahaha yeah that'll do it, want to drain the extra out and see how it runs like that before chasing anything else imo.
