This. Them 1.3s are a fantastic engine. The 1.6 in the S2s was no where near as good as the 1.3 so i can see why people would replace that.

Zak, stop buying all the rallyes! You can't have them all!! lol

RE: 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 17-08-2014

or can I ninja

when it comes to rallyes, yes the 1300 is a cracking little engine, but if you drop a valver into whats already a brilliant car it just takes it to the next level, theyre so savage to drive yet still incredibly fun, like you can actually use all the power on a normal road without doing stupid speeds. 16v s1 rallye is hands down the best car ive ever driven for ticking all the boxes, and i do really really want this one. Buy more dturbo parts off me you lot Wink

RE: 106 rallye - RetroPug - 18-08-2014

If the issue is space, I would kindly offer to take your old one free of charge. Big Grin Big Grin

So you have owned all 3 versions to base this opinion on?

I have had all 3 and i completely disagree. the 16v S1 rallye is the hot hatch peugeot SHOULD of made.

The 1.3 is only good for originality, yes its a rev happy 8v but its still underpowered and sluggish unless its being rinsed. The 8v in the S2 is same bhp output but with more torque and its alot smoother / nicer to drive and the power is much more useable.

When fitted with the lightweight, powerful and rev happy 16v they make an amazingly capable machine especially if fitted with the original close ratio rallye gearbox, this is what gives them the extra edge over a 106 GTi and really makes them quite savage too drive hard.

On another note i have an S1 rallye inlet manifold, throttle body and high lift cam im trying too sell Angel

Who said you have to own them to form an opinion? An opinion could be completely baseless if i really wanted!
I've been in both and driven a standard S2 and I much preferred the S1. There is no denying that the 16v engine is a cracking little lump but just because it's faster doesn't mean it's better. 8v and 16v engines are completely different beasts to drive normally and that can only be down to personal opinion as to which you prefer.

Personally if I got my hands on a S1 rallye, it would be staying standard

RE: 106 rallye - Matt-Rallye - 18-08-2014

Ah ok i should of said an informed opinion. Wink

Undoubtedly an S1 in completely original state is going to be worth more. Same with any car pretty much.

Yes a 16v makes them faster but it also makes them a lot more useable for every single purpose! It is simply a far superior engine to the original.

RE: 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 18-08-2014

Hmm I'd better buy an original mint s1 and s2 just to make sure :p

RE: 106 rallye - ADV_93 - 19-08-2014

16v engine + 1.3 rallye gearbox = epic speed

Confirmed. Even more fun when you throw a Quaiffe diff in the mix....

Did this car get the few issues with mapping and stuff I saw?

RE: 106 rallye - mattyh24hdi - 20-08-2014

So are are you lot just going cat fight about it or actually buy it ????

RE: 106 rallye - Matt-Rallye - 20-08-2014

Just the usual cat fight, no-one on here would even dream of owning something that awesome! or they would buy it and put an XUD in it

RE: 106 rallye - RetroPug - 21-08-2014

I would dream of owning a car as awesome of this but I don't have money for it and I already have an old french car.

Well perhaps there are a few of us Tongue

RE: 106 rallye - Pebbles167 - 22-08-2014

I'd love an S1 Rallye, Ideally with the standard 1.3 8v, but if it was an S2 it would have to have a 16v dropped in.

Looks like a nice example, there will be one featured on Top Gear when the new season starts Smile

RE: 106 rallye - THE_Liam - 25-08-2014

Always wanted one of these. I'd be torn, the 1.3 is a belting little engine, however I've had a 106 GTI and that was truly epic.
