Engine out - bashbarnard - 08-07-2014 Engine out top? Engine out bottom? I have ramps and.to be fair could do either way. What would people say? RE: Engine out - toseland - 08-07-2014 remove rad, bumper and grill and "easily accessible ancilliaries" and out the top dont forget not to roll the car with the driveshafts out, as the bearings will fall to peices. RE: Engine out - zx_volcane - 08-07-2014 Down to personal preference - I've done 'em both ways - depends how you feel Last couple I've done out the top, and removed whole front end, but you can go in and out without RE: Engine out - bashbarnard - 08-07-2014 I was thinking to go down. Leave on pallets let car up on ramp do everything I need and lower the car back down. That way engine doesnt move. But then again I think its subframe off RE: Engine out - ConorTRG - 08-07-2014 Itll fit down the bottom without touching the subframe will it not? Looks to be plently of room. RE: Engine out - bashbarnard - 08-07-2014 Not sure I pulled an engine out of one a few years back but its been a while. Might fit. RE: Engine out - ConorTRG - 08-07-2014 I think it will, ive always took them out the top. Next one I take out I might try dropping it out the bottom. RE: Engine out - Danny2009 - 08-07-2014 Bumper slam pannel and rad off bonnet off so don't risk damaging Then pull it out as one with box RE: Engine out - bashbarnard - 08-07-2014 The idea is to pull box out with it as well. RE: Engine out - Danny2009 - 08-07-2014 Take bonnet catch cable off latch pull it through out of slam panel 2 bolts at top on wings 13mm 2 13mm hold slam panel to chassis leg behind arch liner Unplug connections on light all lights bumper ect will come off In one part Take rad out then swing it out jobs a good un RE: Engine out - londondan86 - 08-07-2014 (08-07-2014, 11:46 AM)Danny2009 Wrote: Take bonnet catch cable off latch pull it through out of slam panel Exactly this. Done a few times now and much easier this way. RE: Engine out - Tom - 08-07-2014 Agree with above, first time i pullled an xud motor took me 3 hours and i took the front end off and pulled it out the front. Seemed easy enough to do it that way, you ony have to lift it off the top mount and swing it forwards then drop it out the gearbox mount (if you havent already removed that one) then pull it out the gap! |
