Want some free part worn tyres... - silverzx - 19-06-2014

I know a few of you work in garages so can you keep an eye out for some tyres for me guys?

Mainly aimed at South West / West Country boys, Connor, Frosty etc.

Now the funny / laughable bit..

I'm after some 265/35/18 x 2 and 245/40/18 x2 to get me going.

That's ET42 / 8Jx18" front's.

ET30 / 9.5Jx18" rears.

Yes, were going big boy spec on the Datsun.

Will also take any 205/55/16 / 195/55/16 / 205/45/16's for my skid rims.

Cheers! Blush

About time you put some meaty rims on there Tongue

I'd have thought 245/40 might be a little big for a a 8J rim though?

Meh, I dunno, it's what's on them atm and they came off another S14 so guess they're fine? What do you suggest, slightly lower profile?

RE: Want some free part worn tyres... - Midnightclub - 19-06-2014

I imagine they'll fit fine but in my head maybe look a little too wide? For instance, I'm running 225/45 on an 8J atm, and that looks like it has an ever so slight stretch rather than hanging over the edge of the alloys, it'll have a slightly stiffer sidewall so would probably make for slightly sharper turn in etc..being a common size too, probably a LOT cheaper

Ok mate, i'll have a pokey over the Datsun-200SX-OC and see what they say, your making sense, I just pressumed the tyre on there was suitable as it came with the wheels.

They look proper ricer btw. Like halfords specials. Big Grin

Oh gawddd.. what are they lol? Snapchat me a pic Wink

I'd double check price wise but imagine that the 225/45 will be a lot more common in part worn anyway

Not bad for a freebie!

RE: Want some free part worn tyres... - Midnightclub - 19-06-2014

Could be worse lol, and yeah if they're free!

Could probably also use a 255/35 (/30 i can't remember which) for the rear as that'll probably be in more plentiful supply too

RE: Want some free part worn tyres... - silverzx - 19-06-2014

They've said 225/40/18 for the front. Close enough!

RE: Want some free part worn tyres... - Midnightclub - 19-06-2014

That's it! Can never remember whether mine are 40/45 or 30/35 but it is 225/40/18

Why would people give away useable tyres free? I see PWs for sale on ebay with only like 3mm tread lol. Confused

Because they have to pay to dispose of them?

Because they want to be helpful?

Because not everyones a c**t?

At my work we pay £1 a tyre for disposal and can freely give them away / take them but we never have 18"s in the pile.

Hmm, must be nicer your side of the country lol, most places round here tend to sell them on ebay/gumtree/facebook....cant be giving money away lol! Fair enough if they were literally slick just for drifting, but not anything useable.
