Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - nick000 - 15-06-2014 replaced the standard silencer with a nice piece of Stainless tube on my xtdt today (update to proj thread to follow) and was amazed at the amount of smoke on and off boost. I presume it's just now more visable due to exhaust tip no longer pointing down but it was so bad I have cut back the fuel. This had led me to wonder what sort of power is possible whilst maintaining a minimal smoke "clean tune" ? Theories on new found smoke and rr results with a clean tune much appreciated..... RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - Jimbo - 15-06-2014 Could prob push 115/120 on a virtually smokeless tune id imagine. Take some setting up mind RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - Piggy - 15-06-2014 Just drive it properly. Sounds harsh, but its true. The difference will be the standard silencer...its quite tricky to setup a bosch tuned XUD I have found with standard silencer coz it just clogs up with smoke rather than releases it...which the stainless tube will do. RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - pugmanxud - 15-06-2014 Yes. give it the fuel to get the turbo spooling just enough and keep going down and down as you feel it pulling. Makes it a lot quicker than matting your foot coaling the f*ck out of life then the turbo finally spooling and yer off! Despite cutting fuel back it doesn't feel down on power much either.... RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - Piggy - 16-06-2014 Maybe you need a bigger turbo ![]() RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - Anton - 16-06-2014 Where do you live? RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - jammapic - 16-06-2014 I ran over 180hp, with it pretty much smoke free, see vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewB2swhyXDU RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - toseland - 16-06-2014 how can you call that a tune... you can still see the back of your car =D RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - jammapic - 16-06-2014 It made 209.9hp with it "tuned". RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - nick000 - 16-06-2014 Gave it a "good run" on the way to work this morning and the performance improvement even with less max fuel is quite impressive. Going to set fuel back to give 19 psi boost again but be even more careful to "feed the fuel". Pulls better through rev range now and no gov mod yet. JP- impressive "clean" 180hp tune Anton - just up the road in Witney RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - Anton - 17-06-2014 Welcome to have a look and play if you want ![]() RE: Smokey pug & "clean tune" power? - nick000 - 17-06-2014 (17-06-2014, 09:58 AM)Anton Wrote: Welcome to have a look and play if you want Thanks Anton, may take you up on that at some point. Lots of mods to do yet though before a "final" tune ![]() |
