Battery Relocation Wiring - silverzx - 04-06-2014 Is this up to the job? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221271392001 If not can someone link to something on eBay that is? How many amps has it got to be able to handle? I presume the negative can be connected to the floor pan in the boot or somewhere like that and the positive just gets ran forward to the standard positive connection in the bay? Many thanks! RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - zx_volcane - 04-06-2014 prob not get as thick as possible - see welding earth cable, 70mm2 should do the trick i imagine you could pull 300 amps no problem cranking a diesel over factor in the length of cable run form the boot, you want it as meaty as possible so it doesn't drop any battery earth to chasis, I went off a rear seatbelt mounting point under the rear bench for a good earth - again use a meaty cable for this too. you'll need to source some chunky connectors too, and a distribution block and a big fuse to run immediately after the battery. I used plumbing solder and a blowtorch to secure my connectors, you're not going to do ti with a soldering iron. Useful info regarding the XUD though, cheers Tom! RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - zx_volcane - 04-06-2014 well if you will post in the xud section :p RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - silverzx - 04-06-2014 (04-06-2014, 09:42 AM)zx_volcane Wrote: well if you will post in the xud section :p We don't exactly have an SR20DET section! ![]() Was also considering it for the Pug, but not until next pay day so it's still all relevant mate. ![]() 300 amp for XUD, 170 amp for Datsun? ![]() RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - r3k1355 - 04-06-2014 You want the 300A stuff off this page, it's what I used in the battery re-location in my 200sx http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/752/category/124 They also sell all the connectors, the junction box, battery box and other bits. I got a circuit breaker from eBay IIRC. They also do a washer pump & bag kit if you want to remove the stock washer bottle. Whats the circuit breaker for? Like a big re-usable fuse? RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - andywhy - 04-06-2014 Thicker wire = better current capability = lower voltage drop = better starting! ![]() RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - silverzx - 04-06-2014 Something like this a bit too CHOCOLATEY? ![]() www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280608627568 RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - r3k1355 - 04-06-2014 Yea thats pretty similar to mine, can't remember the capacity I got it in tho. It's useful as it enabled you to isolate the battery really quickly, just hit the little red button and you're done. Nice and easy for all the welding you get used to doing. Battery Relocation Wiring - Sambarker - 04-06-2014 +1 for welding cable, much cheaper and better quality RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - silverzx - 04-06-2014 I have a cut off switch already which you flick on and off but the circuit breaker is to protect from surges etc much like a fuse? I'll take a look at welding cable too. RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - londondan86 - 04-06-2014 I got all mine from a bmw 320i, ran the +ve from the boot to the engine bay, used the bmw junction block. Just connected the battery -ve to the chassis as Tom said. XUD starts first crank every time ![]() RE: Battery Relocation Wiring - toseland - 04-06-2014 +1 for the BMW 3 series.. i am running the split charge on that in the rear of my other vit. |
