Gasket for EGR blank - Tom85 - 18-05-2014

Hi all

Bought an egr blank from eBay (made out of stainless steel and rumbled for smoothness.) Fitted it yesterday but realised after I hasn't put any gaskets on it. I just slid it in (wasn't much room to separate the flexi pipe from the inlet) and tightened it up. I don't think it is leaking, any way to tell?

Thanks

I bought the same one but never fitted. Should be able to use some gasket sealant on it if youre worried.

I got that one off eBay too, slotted in, no gasket either. Tbh I can't see any big problems with it, even if it is letting by it'll only be into engine bay as it's serving its purpose it's a big ass flat faced blockage in the middle of the pipe stopping the gasses travelling through. Have you also removed and blocked the vac line too?

I had already blocked the vac line. It all seems ok so I think I'll leave it for now. The inlet elbow gasket is leaking oil a bit (common problem) so I think I'll just wait until I do the gasket on that and maybe put some instant gasket on the blanking plate.

Thanks guys
