Am I being out of order? - Niall - 22-03-2012
Right so just got back from the missus and I'm fuming.
Basically, we're going on holiday next march. She couldn't afford it but because I'm a top bloke
I said I would pay for her. This was on the condition that if he gets any lumps of spare cash, she pays some towards her half of the holiday. Fair?So she's paid 500 quid towards it leaving me with just shy of 2k to pay by November. She told me the other day that she will have a spare £500 soon to put towards it. Brilliant!
Go round there tonight and she's talking to her rents about their holiday which is a week after we get back from ours. Turns out she's now practically decided that she's going to florida with her rents( as it will be the last family holiday she goes on) using the 500 she was going to put towards our holiday plus what ever else she gets between now and then.
Now I did say that I would pay for her IF she doesn't get any spare money towards it but as far as I'm concerned, that takes the piss a bit!

Tbhh I honestly dont know to be angry or not. She doesn't earn much so I offered to pay but if I was her, if I had the spare money, I would pay it towards the holiday especially seeing as its not like I take home loads of money!

Well even if she lost her job tomorrow and didn't have any work till we went, I wouldn't want a penny off of her. I wouldn't of offered to pay If I didn't want to.
I don't want every spare penny she has to it. That's unfair as she needs money for her self but 500 is a bit bloody much!
Don't think she realises how much paying for this is actually f*cking me up. I don't earn massive amounts but we both enjoyed it so much...

Seeing this from her perspective though, if it IS her last family holiday, she'd probably feel bad not going with them, and tryin.g to make it work for you and her parents. I know from experience that two or more expensive things often happen very close together and you have to try and balance the options. I'm not saying she's right btw....just saying I wouldn't necessarily be so quick to assume she's trying to take you for a ride.

Possible. I'm just annoyed that I've taken on loads of overtime at work to pay for it, working my bollocks off for it and she's wanting to go on two holidays. Don't know if I'm being out of order because it may be the last time all her family go away together

I'd have serious words over something like that, and I dote on my missus. Not being funny, but if her Dad always paid for her before, why not now? If she wants to go so much she'd be working two jobs already to make up the money, especially knowing how hard you're working to sort it out. Actually i'm going to revise my original statement to; "i'd be going ape-sh*t over something like this". I really would, ask my missus lol.
I would echo what mrs moonstone says though, talk to her about it before jumping to any conclusions. But if she gets funny...
