Michelin Pilot Sport 3 Vs Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 - Daniel306 - 26-04-2014

Looking at getting some new tyres, after running toyo's and and uniroyals and only getting 3k miles of of them i think its time for something thats better and will last longer.

Was thinging about getting the PS3's but the goodyears have better reviews and are £12 cheaper each

Anyone tried them compared to Uniroyals..?

I have Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance on mine - only just fitted. I used to have the uni royals but these have a much better sidewall and the online reviews were all positive. Hopefully the wear rate will be much lower too.

You killed a set of tyres in 3k miles?!

Currently running eagle f1s and used to run pe2's which are very similar to ps3s.. the f1 is a decent tyre for sure in wet and dry grip and seem to last a little longer

x2 what the hell where you doing? The last 2 tyres I had lasted over 30k for me on the car when I got it and only came off about a month ago

I'd check tracking and suspension (not to mention droving style) if you're going through rainsports in that amount of mileage, they're not stupidly soft and you'd actually be worse off with a softer tyre like ps3 or f1. With either or those two you'll have more than enough grip. I loved the f1s when I had them (on 16s with a lower profile) but now have pilot sport 3s on the Meg, and they're fantastic. Either way you won't be disappointed in terms of grip, but longevity might be a problem if that's already the case.

Tracking is fine, driving style and the roads hear is what dose it, I do zero motorway miles a year and often tow a trailer

That's absolutely bonkers, I've had my RS2s on for about 30k and they're got a fair bit of life in them, granted that's mostly motorway miles, but they still get a thrashing fairly often!

I had f1s until I destroyed them. Got ps3s and they are substantially better. I know where my money would go!

F1's are beautifully progressive though, you can play with the car beyond the limits all day long and know exactly where it'll end up.

Mind, I killed mine in about 6-7k on a 1.4, so....

Im not limmited to just thease tyres, im also looking at Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, but can find them in 215 45 17

Im not surprised with Daniel306 and the RS3's, mine dont look like they will last much longer and they have done about 3k too!
Looking like they've got quite a few more miles left on the rears though, im thinking of going Michelin PS3's next for the front though

My money would be on the fat little French mascot.
