Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Matt-Rallye - 24-04-2014

Noticed my rear brake compensator spring thingy is just dangling around loose, might explain when applying the brakes hard the arse tries to overtake the nose lol

Anyways seeing as im changing my rear brakes i might aswell sort it out Smile anyone got anything kicking around from an old beam?

Thanks fella Smile

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - jamesgmg - 24-04-2014

If it's the same part as on my car, it's £88 at GSF

BRAKE PRESSURE REGULATOR
PART NO : 653PC0070
£88.80
http://www.gsfcarparts.com/

Or Euro Car Parts have a bosch one for £90.

Part No.: 130735170

It increases the rear braking bias as you increase the weight in the back of the car. I would keep it personally but I'm like that!

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Matt-Rallye - 24-04-2014

Thanks for that fella Smile Mines a disc rear axle if thats the same as yours?

No drums here, no idea if it's a different part? Got a reg you can try?

I was only looking at these the other day as mine was seized and I wanted to know worst case if I broke it!

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Matt-Rallye - 24-04-2014

Do you work for a motor factors by any chance? Tongue

Reg on my one is S608RBV Smile i can imagine it being similar.

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Danny2009 - 24-04-2014

I have one mate ill pm you a picture shortly so you can confirm it's right part

If you can please fella. i'll know it as soon as i see it, spent enough time getting smacked in the noggin by the one on zakks Nile '6 when i was undersealing it for him last weekend lol

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Danny2009 - 24-04-2014

Pmd you mate

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Piggy - 24-04-2014

I removed mine, rear discs, no issues at all

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Mattcheese31 - 24-04-2014

best to have one fitted if you can, under certain rare conditions you will wish you had one . . .Smile

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Danny2009 - 24-04-2014

I bypassed mine and slammed on for a red light and the arse end was in the other lane on the dual carriage way lol

Nah, but I seem to spend quite a bit of time in them!

Euros and GSF don't list anything on their websites for your car. Might still be the same part though. 2nd hand option looks good if it were me, there doesn't seem to be much in them.

what Danny said lol.... I slammed on for a dog that ran out in front of me and ended up sideways lol

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Matt-Rallye - 25-04-2014

This is whats happening too me at the moment, when i brake i can feel the back of the car stepping out. Not a nice feeling when trying to slow from triple figures lol

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Piggy - 25-04-2014

I love that, suits my driving style to a T, left foot braking along b roads is epic, get it turning in before you even turn the wheel

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Matt-Rallye - 25-04-2014

Would suit me if i was hooning down backlanes all day but when a prick in a 4x4 brake tests me at 70+ mph, i dont wanna fail that test lol

you're really recommending this to people? . . . . . not very responsible now is it, you don't need extra help getting a 306's back end to slide out imo . . Dodgy

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Piggy - 25-04-2014

If you cant handle it, then fit a compensator that seizes at the sniff of dampness and thus does nothing but restrict the braking to the rear, which is dangerous when you have any extra weight in the rear.

don't be silly, they can seize, but out of the 3 cars i've had with one they've all been fine, just take a bit of wd40 if they do anyhow . . .

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Piggy - 25-04-2014

You maybe able to free the external arm of the compensator, but often the arm can be freed up, but internally its not.

I am not reccomending this to everyone, most have abs and thus dont have a compensator, but it can be a simple and useful mod to remove it.
A better thing to do would be fitting a manual compensator inline

yeah i was gonna say, don't you have ABS? . . . .if so your brake bias is controlled by that anyway, ergo what you banging on about? . . lol

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - welshpug - 25-04-2014

no, only phase3 cars have EBD, phase1 and 2 NEED this compensator.

RE: Rear brake compensator valve thingy... - Matt-Rallye - 25-04-2014

Whoa.. slow down fellas...

I'd outdrive you all in a NAD phase 1 anyways so shh Wink

Mines a Rallye... so if my *assumptions* are correct its basically a ph2 pov spec GTi6 with factory facelift?

But mine has ABS so im now very very confused lol

Picture shamelessly stolen from Zakks project thread...

The spring and plunger type bit is the bit thats rattling and broken on mine. the spring is just hanging around loose...
