front bumper removal help ? - titch - 11-04-2014 Just had a quick look at removing the front bumper, i have a newly painted one ready to go on, and while i was there i was going to remove the rad fans ( they don't work ) to make room for the FMIC. Now my question is, on the drivers side do you need to remove the washer bottle as i can't see or feel where the nuts are, the pass side looks easy enough to get to. Any tips aswell to make it easier would be good. Cheers Titch RE: front bumper removal help ? - Slam Wagon - 11-04-2014 No need to remove it, there is enough room. I use a 1/4 drive ratchet. The nuts are 10mm. Theres some wiring and a water pipe that may be in the way, but usually can just work round them. Dont forget to disconnect the fogs if you have them, i always used to. Titch RE: front bumper removal help ? - Slam Wagon - 11-04-2014 Theres a small plastic piece connecting the arch liner to the bumper that needs removing, 3 torx screws. One from underneath into the bumper, two from the arch liner into the plastic. Drop that off then reach up into the cavity, on the back of the slam panel are 3 bolts, 2x 10mm holding the bumper, one 13mm holding the slam panel (ignore this one). Then unplug the fogs, undo the 3 10mm bolts holding the bumper supports along the bottom of the rad (if theyre still there). Job done pull it off. Re: front bumper removal help ? - kentiiboii - 11-04-2014 Take the paix that goes from wheel arch to bumper off, then get your hand right up there :-) RE: front bumper removal help ? - jamesgmg - 11-04-2014 I found this guide very useful: http://www.306oc.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=7361 RE: front bumper removal help ? - titch - 11-04-2014 Cheers fellas, Going to do it on Sunday hopefully, just looks a bit of a pita compared to other cars that i have done. RE: front bumper removal help ? - Toms306 - 11-04-2014 Theres also 3 bolts holding tabs on the bottom if you still have them. The bumper on one mine had never been removed, so these were rusted into their spring clips! ![]() As for it being a pita, it is, I'd much rather change a Golf/Bora bumper, so simple and always lines up lol! RE: front bumper removal help ? - titch - 11-04-2014 The 3 bottom ones were all still there, they were lose and will come out, it was just the drivers side ones i couldn't see or get at. Going to do it on Sunday hopefully, get the fans off and the air con condensor off and the slim line fans on and then bolt the intercooler in place, and get the newly painted bumper back on. Then leave plumbing the intercooler in for a bit |
