Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Dum-Dum - 30-01-2014 Spoox are selling their moulds for 306 fiberglass bonnets http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spoox-Motorsport-Peugeot-306-PH2-PH3-Fibreglass-Bonnet-Moulds-/331059120478?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4d14a9495e Currently at £285 or best offer. If a few of us went in together we could mould our own bonnets. 6 of us would be £50 each, 10 of us would be £30 each (plus fiberglass) but would probably end up with a sub £100 fiberglass bonnet. Obviously wed need to make up a rota of who gets it and when and how it gets moved and what happens once everyone has a bonnet but could be an awesome plan. TBH i reckon we could get it cheaper too. RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Piggy - 30-01-2014 but isnt there a guy on gti6oc that does them for about £100 anyway!? RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Just Sean - 30-01-2014 dumdum, why dont you just buy it and knock out moulds and sell them on here at forum discount? Also are they smoothed? Or can the be smoothed? RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Grant - 30-01-2014 Theres quite an art to doing it, I reckon it wouldn't be as straight forwards unfortunately RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Poodle - 30-01-2014 That's been up for ages, someone suggested doing the same thing months ago. I'd buy it myself, but i'm making my own for considerably less lol RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Grant - 30-01-2014 But yours would have massive dents in the middle for boost pipes alex ![]() RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Eeyore - 30-01-2014 (30-01-2014, 05:53 PM)Grant Wrote: Theres quite an art to doing it, I reckon it wouldn't be as straight forwards unfortunately Exactly this. Its not as simple as just throwing fibreglass in the mould and a perfect bonnet comes in. Fibreglass is actually really expensive and a pain to do. RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Poodle - 31-01-2014 Lol Grant, true story. It's not that expensive, or even difficult to do, but it is fairly painstaking and labour-intensive. RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Toms306 - 31-01-2014 Whats the advantage of a fibreglass bonnet anyway? Is it literally just weight saving? RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Poodle - 31-01-2014 Pretty much, otherwise it's just a pita lol. RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - lolsteve - 31-01-2014 Didnt ozone have a fiber glass one that wobbled or something? RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Poodle - 31-01-2014 That's fairly normal for a grp bonnet tbh lol. RE: Fiberglass bonnet mould team buy? - Grant - 31-01-2014 IIRC from reading last time spoox were selling this stuff; its a pain to get them without air bubbles in. Its not just a case of layering on the mat and then resin'ing it. So as to speak. If you were going to run off about 20 and sell them then i reckon it would be worth it. Otherwise, ![]() |
