Gumtree are starting to charge for ads - stu9 - 21-01-2014

I know they've been charging £15 to put a car in but other things were free, now when you edit or upgrade it's £2.75, but if you put a fresh one in for the same ad, it's free Huh

Wont be long before they charge for everything

I have never sold anything through gum tree anyway. There are too many scams and dodgey people.

GumTree is alrite for a free place, but the layout and organisation of the website is shit so I wouldn't pay to put an advert up there.
If you're gunna pay it's going to go on eBay, at least there's a decent chance people will see it.

Is Swapz.co.uk free???

RE: Gumtree are starting to charge for ads - stu9 - 21-01-2014

I don't pay on either, just put free stuff on, nut you're right, it's full of scammers/arseholes....like you say ebay for most things or Autotrader, PH ect for cars

If you update an old ad, it wont be seen due to the way it lists in date order.

I used gumtree for buying and selling, the map location was ideal for me, it's how ebay locations should be done imo. However since you have to pay so much now you might as well just use ebay tbh.

I know what you mean....GT now charge £2.75 to update one, they didn't before....that's what doesn't make sense to me, they'll charge to update it but wont to a new one in...odd

Oh I see, yeah that does seem odd lol.

RE: Gumtree are starting to charge for ads - l33dwc - 21-01-2014

You know eBay acquired Gumtree in 2005. I treat it as a free eBay.

RE: Gumtree are starting to charge for ads - Toms306 - 21-01-2014

But it's no longer free...that's the problem. Tongue

They gotta pay for all of those TV adverts eh.

Someone had to give Justin Lee Collins some work I suppose!

As Stu said above, you get two free ad's a year.... So if you haven't done more than that you won't have paid. Wink
