V6 guestion - Cbray2003 - 10-01-2014

Hi there all got a v6 phase1 engine and all the things to do a conversion but thinking about big power and something different does anyone know of any forged rods that will fit the v6 for a big power turbo build

RE: V6 guestion - Grant - 10-01-2014

You could get forged rods made for anything. It depends what your budget is.

Specifying what engine is is (engine code, or make and model incl. year of manufacture) will help Smile

This should give you a good idea.. http://www.dp-engineering.nl/projects/peugeot-406-v6-turbo.html

About 315hp on stock internals.. Bearing in mind, that a turbo'd v6 might not even fit in a 306 engine bay

RE: V6 guestion - Cbray2003 - 10-01-2014

Thanks mate and I'd make it fit in lol wat kind of boost pressure do u think stock internals would take

RE: V6 guestion - Grant - 10-01-2014

7-10 psi at best i reckon.

RE: V6 guestion - Cbray2003 - 10-01-2014

I thought about 8 to be fair so pritty gd I might go for 10 give it that bit extra lol

RE: V6 guestion - Craigus - 10-01-2014

You want lower compression if you want to run higher boost

RE: V6 guestion - Grant - 10-01-2014

I wouldn't quote me on that. 10 could be pushing it. I'm not familiar with the V6's capabilities.

RE: V6 guestion - Cbray2003 - 10-01-2014

Lol same here I'm not shore myself so be interesting to see wat its made if and wat kind of power u could get out of it

To lower the compression they just need abit of machining is that correct

RE: V6 guestion - Craigus - 10-01-2014

Yeah the pistons need to be machined

RE: V6 guestion - Grant - 10-01-2014

Depends how crazy you're going. Could also use a decompression plate, or shorter rods.

RE: V6 guestion - Cbray2003 - 10-01-2014

Well I dunno how crazy yet just want see the better side of 300 bhp lol

RE: V6 guestion - BigTallPaul - 11-01-2014

@7psi you'll see 300bhp+ but you will need to use 98 octane fuel to prevent pinking.

You'll need deep pockets though:-
Garrett Gt3076 = £1000
Custom manifolds = £1000
Standalone ECU = £600
Rolling road & mapping = £500
Intercooler and pipework = £300
Bits n bobs = £200

Total = £3600 !

Sadly with the way turbos spool up on Petrol cars (higher rpm) you will probably need to think about a Quaiffe lsd.
Another £700

Sorry to be blunt but for me its just not worth the time and money. Put the V6 in first, use it and once you experienced the noise, awesome low down torque and the overall performance I doubt you be wanting to spend £4000 on it.

Paul.

RE: V6 guestion - Cbray2003 - 11-01-2014

Ok mate sound ill give it a try c wats wat first

RE: V6 guestion - welshpug - 11-01-2014

or just bolt a rotrex on it.

and start spelling things properly.

RE: V6 guestion - Cbray2003 - 11-01-2014

I have thought of that but would be tight against the slam panel and against rad be hard to get in I think but worth looking at and sorry it's a habit wrighting short
