Premium diesel over normal - JJtheHITMAN - 08-01-2014 I never got it until now, premium petrol in my eyes makes no noticable difference end of. But then i got my HDI and have to say i can notice the difference between it and standard fuel. Not so much cold inj knock, smoother, noticeable more power and a noticeable reduction of smoke. Its not my imagination either..... Although i think the slightly better fuel economy is lol Or is it? Does anybody else buy into it? RE: Premium diesel over normal - adamm306 - 08-01-2014 premium petrol makes a noticeable difference i was getting alot more mpg with it never tried diesel RE: Premium diesel over normal - WiNgNuTz - 08-01-2014 In short, no. Personally, I just cannot justify the extortionate price that they demand for "premium" diesel, even if it is that much better. I resent having to pay the prices we do for fuel anyway, but its a necessary evil. ![]() RE: Premium diesel over normal - Slam Wagon - 08-01-2014 I put a bit of mineral two stroke oil in with my diesel. Thats had a similar effect to what youve said above, smoother engine, better running. Cost me less than £15 for a years worth. A few people on here do it too i believe. RE: Premium diesel over normal - 306carter - 08-01-2014 In works van yes (double nectar points!) in my own car no too expensive. RE: Premium diesel over normal - Martin306 - 08-01-2014 Yes premium diesel does work, it has a different cetane rating which gives all the advantages you describe. It's totally NOT worth the cost though ![]() I shove 2 stroke in my diesel ![]() RE: Premium diesel over normal - Connor - 08-01-2014 Tried it a few times accidentally, only difference I noticed was better MPG. As I usually put £15 in and get around 100 miles, put £15 of premium and got around 100 again, but at a higher pp/l you get less RE: Premium diesel over normal - Dodgy Bob - 08-01-2014 I think it works but depending on the garage you go to it can be totally extortionate, not so long after I got my HDi my local Shell had V-Power Diesel at only 2p p/l more than Fuel Save so I ran it for about a month until I suppose they noticed their cock-up, but it worked wonders, all the knocking, clunking, and tapping in the engine went and it's never come back and runs great, I did a few months mixing Millers Diesel Power Eco Max in with Shell Fuel Save aswell and again a noticeable improvement over just boggo diesel, ran quieter and smoother, not as smokey and a little more pokey :-) RE: Premium diesel over normal - ozonehostile - 08-01-2014 Never bought myself to cough up for v power diesel or equivalent, always super unleaded in the rallye though, makes a great difference in that :-D RE: Premium diesel over normal - Paul_13 - 08-01-2014 Worth it in my opinion. Huge difference in my car over standard diesel RE: Premium diesel over normal - JJtheHITMAN - 08-01-2014 I find 30 quid of shell nitro gives me around 20 mile more than standard. Also seen and heard some nasty things from using a duff batch of supermarket fuel. RE: Premium diesel over normal - Piggy - 08-01-2014 45% veg, 45% BP diesel, 10% petrol, few 100ml of two stroke and few ML, depending on amount of fuel used, of Cetane booster. superduper However anything tuned well in the petrol world will love higher octane, my sportsbike would hardly run on normal petrol...and it LOVED 99oct tesco fuel! RE: Premium diesel over normal - Anton - 08-01-2014 Piggy why do you need use petrol and diesel? I always found it better to use one or the other... RE: Premium diesel over normal - Piggy - 08-01-2014 I only use a bit in winter. I mix it with the cetane and veg oil before putting it in...mixes better I find with the veg and helps flow/pouring it in!!! Petrol helps cold starts too, I find anyway. To be honest, 45/50% diesel is when Im flush, its usually only 25-30% hence the reason I always put 10% petrol ratio in the veg, which kinda makes in a different ratio...but you get the idea! RE: Premium diesel over normal - ozonehostile - 08-01-2014 All that sounds like a massive pita. Straight diesel ftmfw RE: Premium diesel over normal - Anton - 08-01-2014 Fair enough, i've been running 100% oil all winter. 80ppl ftmfw RE: Premium diesel over normal - padge - 08-01-2014 Farmers finest. And I dont like the flat spots 100% veg gives, or the lack of go compared to a mix RE: Premium diesel over normal - Anton - 08-01-2014 That new oil? Yeah the flat spots are a pain, also i find that i can empty the pump quite easily. But when you do 30k a year i'm not complaining. RE: Premium diesel over normal - Dum-Dum - 08-01-2014 Haven't tried it for 5 years, used to find the car felt no real amount faster and did much worse fuel economy. I might try it again next time it's double points on v power. I do already use a diesel additive. V power petrol on the other hand made a huge difference in the 6. RE: Premium diesel over normal - Matt - 09-01-2014 Am I the only one still running 100% veg? RE: Premium diesel over normal - Matt - 09-01-2014 Fml, I should read a whole thread before commenting haha RE: Premium diesel over normal - THE_Liam - 09-01-2014 Technically I'm not on 100%, but pretty close, literally just about 200ml of 2 stroke to 60 litres of veg. I would have thought you'd be fine all winter, isn't it quite mild on the IOW? My grandad was posted there during the war and he always said winter was warm compared to Yorkshire. RE: Premium diesel over normal - adamm306 - 09-01-2014 step 1, go to garage step 2, fill up with diesel step 3, drive with chronic boost step 4, repeat above who cares about economy and fuel prices we drive XUD's for the booooooooooooooost RE: Premium diesel over normal - Danny2009 - 09-01-2014 (08-01-2014, 08:39 PM)padge Wrote: Farmers finest. ![]() RE: Premium diesel over normal - Tom - 09-01-2014 Where do you guys get red from?..
