What alternators fit an XUD? - silverzx - 02-01-2014 The 205's alternator shit the bed the other day so I changed it for a spare one I had lying around. I wired it up exactly the same way as the one I removed (which was wrong) as it smoked a little and the battery sparked like mad when I connected it up.. Anyway, swapped the wires over and its working but makes horrific noises as if the bearing is gone or something isn't right with it. All three of the 205 alternators I've used have 4 ribs/groves on the belts, the crank has 6. Is there any reason why an actual XUD or HDi alternator couldn't be used? There isn't anything else, no PAS, no aircon or anything so the belt would have to go from the crank directly to the alternator. The current belt I've got is coded: 4PK718. Guess the 4 means ribs, the 718 is length? So I'd need a 6PK718? I think WelshPug/Mei touched on this before but I honestly don't see why it would be a problem.. RE: What alternators fit an XUD? - Paul_13 - 02-01-2014 I've got a 205 alternator here if you need it, was working fine I've removed the lock mechanism for you btw That's correct about the belt. The xpk is the number of ribs and the number is the length A xud alternator will fit btw RE: What alternators fit an XUD? - Piggy - 02-01-2014 Fyi: I had to buy three xud alternators to find one to fit my xud aux bracket!!!
