have I modified the wrong car? - sam - 01-01-2014 Just randomly put my car forsale on the south west french cars on facebook ( dont worries its not forsale) just to see what people would pay for it, ive had the most odd offers to be honest anyway 16 people have emailed me what specs etc but the main question I got asked "is it a hdi?" have I modiefied the wrong car? RE: have I modified the wrong car? - Tom - 01-01-2014 Petrol has always been a lost cause... #canofworms RE: have I modified the wrong car? - welshpug - 01-01-2014 to the extent you have modified it, most certainly. RE: have I modified the wrong car? - Curt - 01-01-2014 Surely there's no right or wrong car? You modify them for yourself... Everyone has an opinion, unfortunately (usually)... That's probably being asked because it'd be cheaper to run/insure. Edit: There you go ![]() RE: have I modified the wrong car? - padge - 01-01-2014 meh, nothing wrong with it mate. RE: have I modified the wrong car? - procta - 01-01-2014 sam, more like I modified the wrong car. knowing what I know now, with the 306s, I should have kept my dads 406 and done the HDi up. RE: have I modified the wrong car? - sam - 01-01-2014 Its just odd everyone has asked ![]() ![]() RE: have I modified the wrong car? - padge - 01-01-2014 300? jesus.. "diesel" is the first thing that comes to mind when most people think 306 RE: have I modified the wrong car? - sam - 01-01-2014 True that RE: have I modified the wrong car? - ozonehostile - 01-01-2014 Especially to some of the Fucktards on Facebook lol RE: have I modified the wrong car? - THE_Liam - 02-01-2014 300? ![]() RE: have I modified the wrong car? - sam - 02-01-2014 Yep ill get a screen shot of it RE: have I modified the wrong car? - mikey b - 02-01-2014 You always get muppets on there offering you silly prices RE: have I modified the wrong car? - Dum-Dum - 02-01-2014 Nobody wants a GTi6 cos it aint got a Turbo. Boost makes ladies moist, tapping doesn't. have I modified the wrong car? - ArmzSC6 - 02-01-2014 I remember not long after I got my first 6 I pulled up in a petrol station and ended up chatting to one of the guys that worked there about it and he said "yeh but it's only a 1.4 ain't it...." Most people don't know what a 6 is and are always surprised to find out how quick it is.... (Particularly with a supercharger kit haha) And personally a diesel is for better fuel consumption and reliability more than it is for ultimate power. For the last 3 years I've run my heavily modded 6 and a daily diesel. I always get the diesel remapped and make some aesthetic changes etc as well as sort the suspension but that's as far as it goes. I'd never bother going to the effort of heavily modding the engine. The car isn't what I bought it for then. RE: have I modified the wrong car? - THE_Liam - 02-01-2014 It's pretty common to be honest on Facebook, I remember putting my Skoda up for sale on there, I was asking £1600 which was very reasonable considering it's condition, I put in the advert that I'd consider sensible offers, I was getting 5-6 messages a day, usually no longer than "700 2moz m8" or "ony wurt 500, ua dreemer if u fink u gt more, i com 4 it 2moz yeh?", Facebook is full of wankers. Well i love my 6 ![]() Facebook is shocking for offers had some stupid ones for the china 6, but on ebay i got £970! And it was competely standard! Like ive said before the right person will pay the money ![]() RE: have I modified the wrong car? - Puggie - 02-01-2014 (01-01-2014, 11:48 PM)ozonehostile Wrote: I think alot of people forget that the gti6 exists. So basically everyone is a tight bastard! So basically everyone is a tight bastard! Don't think it's so much that as the fact that these are cheap old cars that appeal to young lads for the most part. If they can have the speed of a '6 with 60mpg rather than 35mpg, and dirt cheap insurance (because they usually don't declare mods) for the sake of £500 on a clutch, FMIC and map, they will. To be honest, I'd find it hard to justify a '6 knowing that my mate gets through less fuel in his 220bhp 328i than he did in his Rallye... Hence them wanting diesels lol. Daft thing is, insuring a stage 2 HDi (properly) costs more than insuring a standard '6 for a young person, the tax is the same pre Y reg and with the money it costs to add boost leaks (FMICs ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: have I modified the wrong car? - Dum-Dum - 02-01-2014 I suppose its weird that the world has gone full circle in the last few years as I used to regularly have people ask me if my black HDi was a GTi6. (anyone remember the "Spotted S/C GTi6 Hayes" thread on the GTi6 forum that turned out to be my HDi). That still makes me giggle. RE: have I modified the wrong car? - THE_Liam - 02-01-2014 Yeah that was awesome! What ever happened to your HDI? Can't actually remember.
