My car is now a chip van. - Toby - 01-03-2012 Afternoon all. Amidst the recent news that fuel duty tax may be on the rise, coupled with it's relentless march to £1.50 a litre regardless of legislation, I made the decision this morning to start using veg. I was hesitant at first, and did plenty of reading through the many threads related to this (Mattcheese has a lot of good advice). However it was one of the better decisions I have made recently. For those of you who are not yet doing this, I would recommend you give it a go. What you need: - A reliable source. I followed Matt's advice and went for JJ foods. They run an impressive operation, I reserved 100 litres online, and picked it up 2 hours later. This came to a grand total of £94.95, which the astute mathematicians amongst you will realise is ~95 p/litre. - A way of getting it into your car. This is the bit I had a little problem with, hence why I write this. - A fondness for chips. - A few items from Halfrauds. What I found is that with 20 litre containers, its a bit awkward getting the oil into your fuel filler. What I did: Buy some oil. ![]() Buy two items from Halfrauds. ![]() ![]() Attach the little green thing onto oil drum. ![]() This then allows you to stick the funnel into the filler hole (Tip: You can secure it in place by hooking the seatbelt around the handle), and pour away. The green thing negates splash back, so you won't end up with oil all over the floor and your clothes. I know that for a lot of you this is simple, I merely write this for those who perhaps have not ventured into veg yet. Feel free to ask any questions should you have any. Cheers ![]() WARNING: Your car WILL smell like a chip shop after doing this. This effect has been confirmed by an independent adjudicator (Tom), who said, after a 5 minute drive down the road, "Toby, your car smells like a chip shop". Be prepared to suck up 10-15 years of crap from the tank lol. Re: My car is now a chip van. - 4WayDiablo - 01-03-2012 might want to mention DONT get it on your paintwork and if you do wipe it off immediatly as its a nightmare! Re: My car is now a chip van. - Toms306 - 01-03-2012 Prices are slightly out to exaggerate your point lol, I wouldn't pay 1.45 for diesel! and I'm not saying its not cheaper.....but it really is horrible stuff! You'll never get me liking Veg tbh. Re: My car is now a chip van. - Anton - 01-03-2012 Prices are exactly as ive seen them today!
