New Car time - Megamonkey - 01-03-2012 Right well I've got an offer of a job thats 20 miles away ... so I need to get a car to get there! So I could be sensible and get a 306 HDi, but then I can't run it on veg like my last cars and never really owned a HDi. Or I could get an XUD ... but I spent forever fixing them before! Although I'm very tempted by the 205 thats up for sale at the moment ... Lastly I am young, dumb and full of ... erm ... so I could go for something petrol powered (was thinking a cab 318i, mmmm nice) but then get crippled by fuel costs. However could LPG it. hmmm decisions decisions, you guys have any opinions or suggestions for me? Basically got about 2k to spend as well! Re: New Car time - Dan! - 01-03-2012 Get an XUD, drive it like you stole it, have lots of fun and live comfortably with the spare cash you've saved not buying a gas guzzler ![]() Re: New Car time - Foxy-jim - 01-03-2012 Just get a dturbo. It makes sense! Re: New Car time - Jake - 01-03-2012 buy an xud! Re: New Car time - David - 01-03-2012 buy a tractor! its cheap to run (red diesel) ![]() Re: New Car time - Dan! - 01-03-2012 Mowle5677 Wrote:buy a tractor! its cheap to run (red diesel) Might not be very practical, living in Birmingham with a tractor.... :auto-camptrailer: Re: New Car time - David - 01-03-2012 who cares about how practical it is! our cars are lower then a pedos morals plus red diesel is tax free........... Seems like the XUD is the most popular choice ... just worried about the reliability as i'll be using it everyday and theres no alternative, hmmmm. Espically if I was to get Dan!'s old 205 and the reliability of it after he's had his grubby mitts on it ![]() ![]() Re: New Car time - Dan! - 01-03-2012 Oi!! Cheeky!! ![]() That 205's a beast. Only time it ever let me down was when the accelerator cable snapped at FCS, which I promptly fixed with some black tape ![]() Re: New Car time - Megamonkey - 01-03-2012 They should have offered duct tape as an optional extra with these cars! Re: New Car time - Dum-Dum - 01-03-2012 Youll never convert the 318 to lpg as a decent kit is £600 and running petrol youll never save that money up, trust me i was gonna convert my cabby. The XUD and HDi are the sensible choices and really its down to personal preferance. Re: New Car time - Dan! - 01-03-2012 Yeah as Chris says at the end of the day its down to personal preference! I prefer women and XUD's, some people prefer men and HDi's...... *snigger* IM JOKING  Re: New Car time - Connor - 01-03-2012 Dont buy Carlos' 205... Youve wrote off enough of his cars already Re: New Car time - Dan! - 01-03-2012 Yeah actually, Connor makes a good point ![]() Re: New Car time - Megamonkey - 01-03-2012 Connor Wrote:Dont buy Carlos' 205... Youve wrote off enough of his cars already I know ... most of the remains are still in my garage reminding me! Re: New Car time - 4WayDiablo - 01-03-2012 Xud + veg is win :-) Re: New Car time - Connor - 01-03-2012 Megamonkey Wrote:Connor Wrote:Dont buy Carlos' 205... Youve wrote off enough of his cars already Keep them there as a reminder to never write off a nice car ever again ![]() Re: New Car time - Megamonkey - 01-03-2012 Connor Wrote:Keep them there as a reminder to never write off a nice car ever again I did that with the horn of my mums ford focus that I ditched in a bush once and had to have a new bumper, a/c unit (think that was a con for more money) and horn ... but that was 7 years ago now! Anyways back on topic ... Dum about LPG you think its the cost that will stop me doing it or its not really possible on a BMW??? Other thing I was thinking about tho is I probably wont be able to run veg ... looking at getting a city pad in the near future ... thus have nowhere to store and fill up with this veg oil. Hence the petrol idea, but then I wouldn't be commuting as could get the train to work. So its whether I go for an XUD until this plan (hopefully come to fruition) and then look for something more fun then ... or do it now and just live with the cost. Plus never owned a perv ... and probably never will in the future cause of the price of fuel! Re: New Car time - TheGateKeeper - 01-03-2012 XUD! Re: New Car time - Foxy-jim - 01-03-2012 You need a petrol car at some point! |
