'6 engine - Matt - 17-10-2013 So looking at getting the rallye started again soon. So the engine has been stood for a while. So I'm going to do a service, oil change, filter change, coolant change. Turn the engine by hand for a couple of cycles. Start? Anything I should or shouldn't be doing? Re: '6 engine - aggyj17 - 17-10-2013 If it was me id start it get it up to temp then drop the oil and coolant RE: '6 engine - Just Sean - 17-10-2013 I wouldn't start it. I'd drain and flush the oil until it was coming out the same colour as I was putting It in. Then carry on as you was matt RE: '6 engine - 1616six - 17-10-2013 just sitck some jump leads on & go ![]() RE: '6 engine - cully - 17-10-2013 not gona happen this side of christmas! RE: '6 engine - vlj - 17-10-2013 Also do the cambelt.. RE: '6 engine - 1616six - 17-10-2013 Prob best to paint it with white emulsion first too. RE: '6 engine - Matt - 19-10-2013 Cambelt is definatley going to happen before I even start. I remember it was a good engine so I don't want to f*ck it by starting it with shit oil etc. especially as its been sat for at least a year RE: '6 engine - Curt - 19-10-2013 Won't do any harm to start it with old oil mate, I'd at least get it warm and then drop it RE: '6 engine - Matt - 19-10-2013 Oh really? May well have to go start it up for lols RE: '6 engine - Paul_13 - 19-10-2013 Disconnect the double relay (behind the ecu) and crank it over a few times until the oil pressure gauge shows some life, reconnect the relay and then start it. |
