So seen a 205 stdt been stood in a shed for last 3 years. Guy has owned it for the last 10 years, dont really no much about it but im hopefully gonna have a look later on today when he knows hes gonna be back home so i can look at it.
So what should i look out for? any common problems to look for?
Hope it turns out to be nice really want a 205 and the fact its stdt makes me want it more

Rot, electrical crap, rear beam. All of peugeots character really.

Look for rot then look again toms pretty much covered it

Rot mainly in the front chassis legs and inner wings, sills, boot floor and under the back seat. Beam wear, electrical issues, heater matrix leaks, leaking sunroof if it's the big vacuum sealed one, gear selection issues, shaking speedo needle, then just the usual old car/XUD stuff

heh, i had this in my 205....didn't know if you were doing 55 or 60mph.

Said many times before already but rot lol. Boot floor, under rear seat, mine had a small hole near where the drivers seat mounts, also behind the headlights aswell.
I had a few electrical issues with mine also but it was corroded earths near the headlights

Bouncing speeds is standard with these old mechanical speedos
As said, rot, front end is a given behind bumper. Check tow points, sounds basic, but rot around these is a danger.
But usual peugeot stuff

Right been to look guy's and there is alot of rust!! Lol but mechanically once he put jump leads started first turn of key ran sweet as a nut what surprised me considering it's been stood for 3 years!
Any way here's pics what u guys think it's worth as it is??

So guys what's your opinions?? He put it up at £400
I've offered £200 but he's gonna think about it
Do you think it could be saved? Or do you think it's to far gone? Should I offer more money?
One thing now I seen it I REALLY want a 205 really tempted to offer abit more but don't wanna regret it

Not that I could see of but with the rust in the boot I could pretty much guarantee there's more rust some were

Yeah its probably rusting from inside out id approach it with caution wouldnt pay more than £200 with it as you'll probably find some nasty suprises once you get to work with the boot floor.

Your better off spending a bit more on a decent one. By the time you've fixed that up and found a load of other problems you could have got a better one

Would be such a shame tho if it was to go to scrap, really does make me feel bad if a see a old pug going for scrap I no it's abit sad

Can you weld? If so its not that bad to do tbh. The boot floor isnt that hard to do I have just sorted mine. Whats it like under the back seats and headlights?

I can weld but don't own a welder, would buy a welder tho if I bought this, didn't check under head lights or back seat completely forgot

I wouldn't pay anymore than 200 for it but if he says yes then I would go for it. You dont see many 205's about let alone an stdt lol
