1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Carlos vinyls - 10-10-2013 Hi is it easy to change a 1.9 TD engine to a 2.0 hdi has anyone done this RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Mattcheese31 - 10-10-2013 yes have a search mate, it's been done, ![]() 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Jtrigga - 10-10-2013 Yeah you would need engine obviously ecu and loom. Most people stick with the xud it's a better engine no electric rubbish. RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Piggy - 10-10-2013 sure you got that the right way round!!?? RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Tom - 12-10-2013 Easier to just by a hdi IMO. RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - colin247 - 12-10-2013 (12-10-2013, 10:58 AM)Tom Wrote: Easier to just by a hdi IMO. Don't try it, grief unlimited!! RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - adamm306 - 12-10-2013 just buy a HDi they're cheap enough... RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Tom - 12-10-2013 Stick with your xud or buy a golf. RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - 306Puggy - 12-10-2013 Don't know why you would want to do this, unless you are a computer genius you can't tune an HDi anyway. As others have said, are you sure you have got this the right way around? I have always wanted to get a phase 3 and drop an XUD in it, all the phase 3 toys with the tunability of an XUD lump. RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Toms306 - 12-10-2013 You don't have to be a computer genius to load a map, just to write them. They're also not expensive if you know where to look. ![]() As others have said though, why would you want a HDi in a ph1/2 when you've got better spec on the ph3 anyway. ![]() If you did want to do it, I'm not sure how the immobiliser would work with the older systems, you'd probably have to have the ECU unlocked I guess. RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Piggy - 12-10-2013 ph3 is just looks to me. toys?! theres not much difference in my mind. all phases have the option of electric windows f&r electric wing mirrors r/c/l pas A/C the only extras I can think of is heater wing mirrors and auto wipers which dont even work that well and I miss the cool lil oil level gauge which I had on my ph1! RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Toms306 - 12-10-2013 HDis have an oil level guage. ![]() Bigger brakes, rear discs and working ABS is one of the biggest things about the ph3 for me. Plus the inside is much nicer imo and I like the auto wipers, dunno why people complain about them, they worked fine on all of mine! As for things being an option, on the ph3 even the pov spec models came with electric front windows and mirrors, PAS, RCL, CD player etc.... RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Piggy - 12-10-2013 bigger brakes, rear discs and abs are all available on other phases though! RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Toms306 - 12-10-2013 Not really. Phase 2 ABS is shit and doesn't work well. And if you're using an XUD it'll be on 247s and drums as standard... You could spend money upgrading all of these things but whats the point when you could just buy a ph3 instead? Especially as the older ones are starting to rust badly as well now. RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Piggy - 12-10-2013 true. all abs is crap. no abs on my ph3!!! Re: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - aggyj17 - 12-10-2013 My ph1 has abs and tbh ive never had any issues with it. Has all the toys a ph3 has apart from aircon but when does it ever work anyway. The only thing that a ph3 has is better remote central locking. Mines a '96 model and hasnt got any rot in the wheel arches or anywhere else. Ive had ph2/3's before and is the best one ive had so far. RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Piggy - 12-10-2013 which can be converted! RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Toms306 - 12-10-2013 (12-10-2013, 08:07 PM)Piggy Wrote: true. Not true, its saved me on more than one occasion! Coming round a damp corner with a junction where people don't understand giveway lines it turns out to be pretty useful. The brakes are the main reason I upgraded from a ph2 to a ph3. But after the Golf brakes/ABS system, even the ph3 ones seemed crap....so it depends what you've had and got used to I guess! RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - adamm306 - 12-10-2013 Abs isn't needed RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Piggy - 12-10-2013 (12-10-2013, 08:23 PM)adamm306 Wrote: Abs isn't needed quote for part truth. abs is needed if you buy cheap tyres and cant drive. RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - Arron - 12-10-2013 ABS on all of the 306 range acts gay RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - adamm306 - 12-10-2013 +1 never had abs on any car and never felt like I've needed it or wanted it RE: 1.9 TD engine change to hdi - HDIkyle - 17-10-2013 (12-10-2013, 06:08 PM)Toms306 Wrote: HDis have an oil level guage. My phase 2 sedan Xud had a oil level :p glx model The ONLY good difference about phase 3 is RF for central locking instead of IR |
