Seems like a sweet idea, wouldn't mind this on mine just for the mindfuck it'd give anyone looking at it in rain.

I just seen this post on facebook.

The concept is cool but in reality I'm going to end up pissing on everybody's car to make swears and penis shapes.

Do you even drive fast enough for your brakes to generate any noticeable amount of heat?

The question is really, do I brake enough to generate heat? I tend to engine brake most of the time to save fuel haha.

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Jake - 08-10-2013

Awesome.... So when it rains you have a black car with a colourd bonnet?

Also the comments are funny!

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Dicky - 08-10-2013

Been around for years, used to have a toy 911 turbo when I was like 7 which I took in the bath with me and it would go from purple to a bright green

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Pete - 08-10-2013

Seen this on facebook, Pretty funky! Could buy a Global Hyper colour T shirt to match Big Grin

Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Alee83 - 08-10-2013

I know the guy that painted and owns that car. He is the only person in Yorkshire with the licence to use that paint...

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Piggy - 08-10-2013

just before you all get mega excited...

this isnt as 'cool' as I first thought. Its not heat sensitive. Its cold sensitive.
So above 18degrees ish it stays the normal colour...its when the top coat is cooler than the base coat that it changes.

I would want it to be other way round personally. so when it heats up it changes to the black

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Sian - 08-10-2013

His car will be black all winter then lol

All winter...? We're in uk it'll be all year round :-)

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Toms306 - 08-10-2013

Black cars hold the heat well though, so black when cold is the better way imo.

Good point ha!

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - C.A.R. - 08-10-2013

A girl in the comments section rightly points out that the bonnet would have a 'splodge' on it from the engine heat. In other words, even with the rest of the car black, it'll look shit.

It's 'cool' if you're 9 years old I guess.

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Piggy - 08-10-2013

no the bonnet would only have a splodge on it if the rest of the rest of bodywork had cooled right down to black

its NOT reactive to heat...it reacts to cold

Have a proper look into.it then
Its called thermochromic paint and it can be activated to suit

Some are black then when warmed it will go clear, a different colour or pattern it

RE: Heat Sensitive Paint - Pretty Cool - Piggy - 08-10-2013

I do think it would be cool and useful too if it react when the paint went over a certain temp...show where the heat was escaping on ya car...and I'm sure thats why certain racing teams want some of it!

I dont see much use of it when it only reacts when it cools down
