how to track a low car? - rd070707 - 27-09-2013

Hi guys I lowered my front end down another 20mm the other day and i want the tracking done so i dont get any nasty tyre wear... but all the local places say they cant do it as its too low.

whats my best option? Is there another kind of machine a garage might have that could do it?

It'll need specialist equipment, like a Hunter system. They attach to the wheels rather than over the tyres. Unfortunately they're rarer and more expensive to get done.

Ahhh right, I might have to consider getting it done the old fashioned way then

You want to find somewhere with the new 3d gear, dont even have to touch the car, just drive on the ramps and cameras work it out and put it on the screen for you! Then you adjust and off the ramp again!

My boss is looking into the 3d equipment ment to be so fast to check.
Ours is 4 wheel align atm and it clamps round the tyre/wheel making it impossible if your too low

You will need to visit one of the handful of establishments in this country which have a proper Hunter laser system. Mine is lowed 75mm and several other places with inferior equipment were unable to help me, so I feel your pain...

I used Martek in Birmingham and their service was excellent - here is the wheel alignment info page on their website.

They charged me £40, took half an hour, and they gave me a very nice printout showing the before and after alignment readings too Smile

Any garage with a set of gauges like these can do it: http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Dunlop-Optical-Wheel-Alignment-Gauge-AGO40-New-/00/s/NTAwWDUwMA==/$(KGrHqIOKpEE5Y+sEhqTBO(4YbnJc!~~60_35.JPG
