1.6 turbo/supercharger - Daveg306 - 25-09-2013

Hi guys does any one know if u can turbo or supercharge the 1.6 8v and if so where can I get the kit from many thanks

RE: 1.6 turbo/supercharger - Niall - 25-09-2013

My advice would be to fit a 16v 1.6 TU engine then turbo it. They are bullet proof engines and good for over 300bhp on stock internals. On a 306 it will be easy as the exhaust manifold is at the front and there is plenty of room in the bay!

RE: 1.6 turbo/supercharger - Daveg306 - 25-09-2013

Would it be possible to put a 16v head on my 8v and then turbo it ?

RE: 1.6 turbo/supercharger - 306Dan - 25-09-2013

You'd be better off doing a full swap iirc the pistons are different

RE: 1.6 turbo/supercharger - John1.4 - 26-09-2013

not only the pistons, but to fit the 16v timing belt you'd need to fit the extra idler pulley, but there isn't anywhere for it on the 8v block

do both imo, supercharger in front, turbo over the gearbox... Tongue

you can turbo anything Smile Smile Smile

RE: 1.6 turbo/supercharger - puglove - 26-09-2013

as said above you'd be better off using the 16V iirc there are "kits" for it. but there is nothing for the 8v it would have to be a complete home bru

DP engineering do turbo kits for the 1.6 16v for about 1850 euro

RE: 1.6 turbo/supercharger - THE_Liam - 26-09-2013

The VTS/GTI engine can take huge amounts of boost, there's loads around on 300bhp+ on standard internals like the eater of crayons says but 200bhp shouldn't be right expensive I wouldn't have thought...
