Mot checks? - mcglynn - 19-09-2013 Hi guys, cars going for its mot tomorrow, and 306 specific things I should check? Done lights, horn, washers, front wiper, tyres, left track rod end and right handbrake cable, any others? Any help appreciated RE: Mot checks? - 4WayDiablo - 19-09-2013 Jack her up and look at the CV boots. Get a lever bar on the ball joins and see how they are Handbrake on, leave it in gear and deliberately stall it see how the handbrake is Check the seatbelts work (inertia reel) The rear seats all lock in place and so on RE: Mot checks? - mcglynn - 19-09-2013 Thanks dude, ill have a gander here! RE: Mot checks? - 4WayDiablo - 19-09-2013 Oh. And the airbag light. Common fault on a 306 which is now a fail (overlooked in most places though) RE: Mot checks? - mcglynn - 19-09-2013 No airbag light thankfully! RE: Mot checks? - Piggy - 19-09-2013 theres a entire thread about MOT checklist. RE: Mot checks? - Matt - 19-09-2013 Abs lights? I like to check the bushes on the 'bones too while its in the air. Got 2 weeks to correct shit. Re: RE: Mot checks? - mcglynn - 21-09-2013 (21-09-2013, 12:22 AM)kentiiboii Wrote: Is it just me they don't do pre mot checks. Jusy leave it for mot men to find. Id rather jack it up and do a quick visual check on things to save paying the retest fee and buying the parts anyway lol Re: RE: Mot checks? - kentiiboii - 21-09-2013 (21-09-2013, 12:23 AM)mcglynn Wrote:(21-09-2013, 12:22 AM)kentiiboii Wrote: Is it just me they don't do pre mot checks. Most places around here offer free retest RE: Mot checks? - Poodle - 21-09-2013 They're obliged to offer a free restest within ten working days, ie two weeks. RE: Mot checks? - mcglynn - 21-09-2013 Not in northern ireland they arent, 18.50 for a retest afaik RE: Mot checks? - Martin306 - 21-09-2013 A retest fee is chargeable at the discretion of the garage. I know some places that charge the same again if you take the car away to repair it. Most places I've been to are a free retest. RE: Mot checks? - mcglynn - 21-09-2013 Our system is different, there are set MOT test centres run by the government/dva and set workers. No garage can carry out an MOT test over here, and as such the fees are a set price. £30.50 for a full test £18.50 for a retest And as such id rather check the csr myself first off lol RE: Mot checks? - Martin306 - 21-09-2013 (21-09-2013, 05:05 PM)mcglynn Wrote: Our system is different, there are set MOT test centres run by the government/dva and set workers.
