citroen zx 1.4 - krisjones91 - 09-09-2013

can anyone tel me if the engine in a 1.4 zx are the same as a 306. i gave my father inlaw a zx 1.4 i had cos i had a scenic and a 306.
the problem with the zx was it would super rev up to 3000 for no reason then if it was turned off then tried to restart it wouldnt start or take a lot of turning of the key and pedal pushing. could anyone tell me why this would be. im thinking idle control valve. but would that cause it to not start again?
reason im asking as my scenic is really fookin me off and id rather have 2 90s cars that i can work on and fk the 2005 scenic.
cheers

they are the same block, it's an alloy TU3, but some of the wiring is slightly different, and iirc the alternator is mounted on the front in a zx... easy to fix though.

as per the problem, try lambda sensor, water temp sensor, tps and give the idle valve a clean / replace it if it's crap
other than that, check for normal stuff like air leaks / rotten vacuum lines
