gearbox bearings gone :( - callumh122000 - 26-08-2013 anyone had a scrap yard gearbox thats lasted or do they go quick or is it worth haveing bearings done on mine ? gearbox itself is tight not sloppy gos into gear smooth specialy for 108000 miles RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - 306Dan - 26-08-2013 easier to get a low milage box from the scrappers, tu boxes are made of swiss cheese anyways RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - Piggy - 27-08-2013 yeah I'd agree... these are known for breaking a lot...so try finding a lower miler. RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - Toms306 - 27-08-2013 Milage is irrelevant, I had a low milage 'box fitted that lasted less than 2 months before breaking again. They are cheap and easy to replace, but you really can't tell when they're gonna break. If you want longevity and reliability go for a recon'd 'box, won't be cheap though. RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - Grant - 27-08-2013 I've owned two 306 that's have had exactly te same issue with them. They're all as soft as transvestite on eastrogen tablets. I've had the gearbox of a 306 more times than I care to recall now. It's all part of the fun of living for the 306 ![]() RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - callumh122000 - 27-08-2013 thanks for help just need car running for work to see me after christmas been offered one from breakers 100 with 60 day warrenty RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - Toms306 - 27-08-2013 That's a lot for a used 1.4 'box but I suppose the warranty is worth it. RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - callumh122000 - 27-08-2013 is there a strongr more realiable gear box i could get secound hand ? RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - Rippthrough - 27-08-2013 Most decent TU 'boxes are around that these days Tom, especially the single linkage ones, where demand seems to be higher than supply. RE: gearbox bearings gone :( - Jenkosowls - 24-09-2013 Saxo vtr box plenty about I preferred it on my 1.6 seemed better suited in my opinion |
