Think mines shot, want to replace the mount and chock it Smile

check for cracks before doing anything Wink

RE: Top engine mount - emmerce - 27-08-2013

When I was changing mine I forget about the order of loosening, in results (after loose four of 6 probably) the engine dropped a few centimeters and stopped blocked at the two screws from engine side. I had to replace the nuts only, fortunately bolts in engine survived. Lift from bottom helped only a little Smile

Re: Top engine mount - rocker8742 - 07-09-2013

Any tips for getting the mount out to inspect the cradle?

Top engine mount - Frosty - 07-09-2013

We have the proper tool at work to undo the mount

RE: Top engine mount - Piggy - 07-09-2013

with engine in place is bloody tight.

but with the right tool and hammer, knock away at the low half, find a nice spot, there are some holes in it which a good drive punch/blunt chissel sits in, and knock it round to get it going.
dropping engine as far as poss helps

Re: Top engine mount - SKoob - 07-09-2013

Sorry to thread hijack, but I'm about to do similar and replace with a vibra technics mount just wondering if using a cut down buffer from my d turbo would work as a chock?

Oh and to get old mount out you'll need a chisel and hammer, you'll need to make a groove in the metal casing and then knock it round as if undoing a bolt/nut. I did this earlier to check mine as feared the worst, but luckily mines all good Smile

RE: Top engine mount - swampy - 07-09-2013

Fairly sure the buffers are the same on all the xu engines.

I have a set of Peugeot sport group n buffers here left over from my s16

Re: Top engine mount - SKoob - 07-09-2013

Was going to cut it to make it fit, difficult to explain but I'll get some pics up of what I'm doing when I start it

RE: Top engine mount - joka-cro - 07-09-2013

I bought corteco, its more expensive than others but worth the money...in my case engine mount is lowered by 3 centimeters and was overheating the bearing on the shaft... btw check for possible cracks on seat carrier - look down what hapend to me:
