drivers side window problem - kingy - 23-08-2013

Right, problem.
I went to get my window up today and heard a small bang and my window stopped working.
Got home and took the door to peices and found the cables that wrap round the black round thingy had all tangled up.
Tryed to fix it but all the cables are frayed so ive ordered a new repair cable pack.
My question is how the hell do you fit the cables?
Ive tryed and tryed but carnt work it out.
Ive looked in haynes manual and used the search function in here but still carnt see anything.
Anyone got any ideas??????

Are you sure about cables problem?
Sometimes broke a sliding element of window, and new cables will not fix problem (this one for 3d/5d probably):

I really wouldnt bother with those cable kits.

It will be a right pain. Serious PITA. Not worth the agro and money saved.

Just buy a second hand motor with it all on.

well as he said the cables are all frayed and wrapped round the motor etc...I think its safe to say its the cables!!!!

its a bugger. and usually its something else worn that caused the cable failure.
and when they do go, they normally break other parts. be surprised how much tension and torque goes through that cable

RE: drivers side window problem - kingy - 27-08-2013

The cables are f*cked mate. The white plasic clip that holds the bottom cable had snapped thus causing the cable to shredd.
Ill give it a go anyways seen as I got the parts. Lol.

I'm about to tackle this myself, only thing I know so far is you need to remove the regulator firstly. The rest I'll work out when the repair kit arrives lol, I'll let you know if you don't get it sussed first Cool

RE: drivers side window problem - puglove - 28-08-2013

Just get a whole new reg (2nd hand) trust me, not even worth the hassle tryiing to repair it , its hell on earth!!
