Matts Black XS I HAZ LOWZ - MRiches - 03-07-2013 I thought I would finally make a little project thread for my new car as it has a lot more potential to do various things to it. At the moment it will be minor details, interior and exterior clean up. As another thread explains the previous owner was a painter and has left paint pretty much everywhere. Under the bonnet is pretty sound and with my lack of knowledge I won't be fiddling with anything major. I have installed my cone air filter from the 1.4 though ![]() Before I bought it: ![]() What I've done already: Cone filter that sits rather nicely. Black masks and black badge switched from 1.4: ![]() De wipered the other day as I broke it. Better time than any really haha. TODAY Decided to get rid of the ugly white and brown paint all over the back body work, badge and window. Rear before: ![]() ![]() During: ![]() ![]() ![]() After: ![]() Got rid of that awful sticker and waiting for a 306oc one to put somewhere on the rear, in white of course. Thank you to those who recommended T Cut. Did the job incredibly to all the paint off the rear and clear up the "Peugeot 306" after I'd removed. Looks a lot cleaner. Future plans: Possibly going for a white and black theme. Sun strip bought ages ago for the 1.4 but not yet fitted. Tint rear lights. (Bought tint spray) Tint rear windows. Was going to tint fogs yellow but unsure now. Spoiler respray. (Kept black) Alloy refurb. (Black? White lion?) Paint calipers. (White) New front and rear badges. (Black border, white lion) Unless I can find a black smooth bonnet and grill which I want more than anything. New back box (More for a nice grumble through my quiet streets). Lowered all around with both new shocks and springs. Front splitter. Most of this will have to wait until I'm back at Uni in September, I'll a little more money then and also my dad won't be hovering around judging everything I do to it. Therefore might be a slow thread ![]() I welcome constructive comments, what not to do and any suggestions to make it look beast ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - Piggy - 03-07-2013 Looking nice and clean...needs a colour to make the front Lion stand out...but thats IMO RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - Grant - 03-07-2013 Looks spot on ![]() Got that paint off the back fine then by the looks of it. Needs moar lows now ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - Matt - 03-07-2013 Looks good ![]() ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - Midnightclub - 03-07-2013 Looks much better than the 1.4! Have you moved out of weston? RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - MRiches - 03-07-2013 (03-07-2013, 01:58 PM)Grant Wrote: Looks spot on I completely agree, need moar lows. Will probably look at one of the coilover kits like the technix ones on ebay. (03-07-2013, 02:34 PM)Midnightclub Wrote: Looks much better than the 1.4! Yep for the summer as I finished for the year and have my job here. Will be back in Sept as I've still got another year. Will give me plenty of free time for this ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - Scott - 03-07-2013 That looks much better! The only bad thing about black cars is how quickly they get dirty, so good luck keeping it clean ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - MRiches - 05-08-2013 *UPDATE* Well, not really... I got some demon foam car wash thingy majig but the nozzle attachment was pretty poor and came out quite watery so didn't get a picture of it all foamy ![]() Those new valeo windscreen wipers will do the trick! ![]() ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - dave1221 - 06-08-2013 looking really good there matey - i do like black phase 3s! RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - Piggy - 06-08-2013 looks good...I still think the Lion needs a lick of paint! PLEASE dont tint the rear lights...totally ruin it IMO. Look great as they are! I love how clean and crisp the car looks though in general ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - Grant - 06-08-2013 You can adjust the foam density on the nozzle, give that a try ![]() Looks smart! RE: Matts Black XS (Be patient with my progress) - MRiches - 06-08-2013 Cheers guys. Yeh about the rear light tint, gave it ago but went too dark, I've stripped the top half back to normal but the lower half ive left for now as I ran out of nail polish remover, and it doesnt look too bad ![]() (06-08-2013, 07:15 AM)Piggy Wrote: looks good...I still think the Lion needs a lick of paint! Just waiting to pick a theme colour! I think im going to go anthracite, so that'll be the alloys, lion, spoiler (as i tried to use back to black thinking it used to be black, I was wrong) now its mess, and the two fuel filter bands. Black is already hard to keep clean if I went down the white alloy route it would probably always look grimey lol. RE: Matts Black XS (HELP!) - MRiches - 04-09-2013 Pointless update, more a cry for help. Cheap help. You may not be able to see from the picture too well, looks worse than it shows in my opinion. Basically the arm on the that side of the rear axle is starting to camber and apparently it means the other side is more likely to do it. Both garages I went to said the same thing and that it's best to get a second hand axle and replace the whole lot, that way I won't have to worry about the other side going (if) after it was fixed. So if any of you on here have a replacement that would fit a 1.8, and help me fit it (I can hold tools) or recommend a place that would fit it that would be good. All my other plans are on hold till I do this I think. Unless you think it'll be fine ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Tom - 04-09-2013 I think all 306 axles are interchangeable. RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Grant - 04-09-2013 You need to be wary of what phase it came off and if it is drum or disc. I am also in Surrey, source one and we can fit it together for a Crete of beer ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Midnightclub - 04-09-2013 Another thing to watch out for is if it's a ABS or non-ABS beam RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Grant - 04-09-2013 It's not the end of the world if its a ph2 as the loads sensor type abs sensor can just be swapped over. But yes, you need the holes in the trailing arm if its got abs rings RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Piggy - 04-09-2013 yeah you want to checks the following: drums or discs. abs or non abs and if it has a brake compensator or not. RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - MRiches - 04-09-2013 Ok well it's phase 3, has ABS, disks and pads and whats this brake compensator? (04-09-2013, 02:49 PM)Grant Wrote: You need to be wary of what phase it came off and if it is drum or disc. I am also in Surrey, source one and we can fit it together for a Crete of beer I'm actually going back to weston to start back at uni on friday. Which is also really awkward as that splitter still hasnt arrived. If I don't get it tomorrow then it's no splitter for me and a waste of £20 lol. So if there is anyone weston/somerset way if i can get a beam that will help me ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Midnightclub - 04-09-2013 Connor works at a garage in bristol that could probably do it, no idea what it'd cost though.. not changed a beam myself so..! RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Grant - 04-09-2013 It still hasn't arrived?! Ill chuck the tracking number into the website in a bit for you. If you want a hand with the beam in Weston shout. Company fuel FTW! RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Midnightclub - 04-09-2013 I'll come.. ya know, for moral support lol RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - MRiches - 04-09-2013 Haha yeh i'll need shoulder to cry on if it goes to shit, only just bought the fecking thing! (04-09-2013, 04:04 PM)Grant Wrote: It still hasn't arrived?! Ill chuck the tracking number into the website in a bit for you. Thanks man, it can't be far off but it's cutting it close. RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - puglove - 04-09-2013 your all talking shit ![]() ![]() I didnt have to swap any sensors It had a load compensator, but i just took that off and used the mount arm from the old beam and i just used the hand brake cables that were already on the beam, Hope that helps RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Grant - 04-09-2013 Jamie, if you ain't got nothing to plug the abs sensors into, how's it going to abs properly? RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - puglove - 05-09-2013 well if its an abs beam like i said just plug it in to the sensors that are already on the beam? mine all works as it should even with a boot full of shit RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - Piggy - 05-09-2013 yeah its true it will work...but if he had discs, he will want discs, if he has abs he wont want a non abs beam etc RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - puglove - 05-09-2013 you could put a non abs beam and pull the fues for the tim being . but it is pretty pikey what numpty would put a drum beam on a 1.8/2.0 ph3 eh? lol RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - MRiches - 05-09-2013 In other slightly happier news I fitted the splitter! Looks pretty good, minus the tiny gap in the middle ![]() In even more worrying news, I think my front tyres are illegal. And also thank you for your replies on the beam, at least I know what I'm looking for now ![]() RE: Matts Black XS (HELP) - ginge191 - 05-09-2013 Got a disc rear beam here mate ![]() Come off an ABS GTI, standard height, in great condition. No camber, no knocks, no creaks.. Located in Portsmouth ![]() |
