Are classic car dealers on crack? - THE_Liam - 10-02-2012

...or do people pay these prices?

Been looking at 80's classics for a fun second car, hot hatches mainly. I've just regained consciousness after seeing some of the prices :eh:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-H ... 1629wt_937

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1983-VOLKSWAG ... 1462wt_932

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-G-Peugeo ... 1471wt_937

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-R-5-G ... 1491wt_937

None of these are showroom condition stored for 20 years kind of cars, all have been pretty well used and the Golf even has 115k on it...

I know 80's cars are becoming real classics but 9 grand for a mk4 Escort?

WTF lmao

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - devils_fuel - 10-02-2012

a guy down the road from me got a mint 1.6 205 gti totally std fr 900 with under 85K on it from gaybay

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - THE_Liam - 10-02-2012

Exactly my point dude, plenty of reasonable cars around but then you find these dealers who valet the cars really thoroughly and take pictures of them in carpeted showrooms and then treble the price lol

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - devils_fuel - 10-02-2012

they are extracting the urine mate....makes for good shites and giggles though

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - kingy - 10-02-2012

that escort is mint. should be in diamond white though ftw. still not worth the asking price.
i know of a mint, and i mean mint 205 1.9 gti with low millage for £1800.
and as for the gtt, i know of one. unmarked with new engine running 240bhp for £2000.

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - THE_Liam - 10-02-2012

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - 4WayDiablo - 10-02-2012

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - kingy - 10-02-2012

my mate sold the lowest recorded millage mk2 gti 8v for £6500. show room condition. not sure if its still on but it was on piston heads for £8000.

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - Daniel306 - 10-02-2012

I seen a 5 door 205 still sitting in the showroom, dont think its for sale any more, just use it for show, dont think its moved in 15 years, total mint

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - kingy - 10-02-2012

true true. he got it for about £3000 i think it was. spent loads getting it back to standered but yeah, made a killing on that one.

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - THE_Liam - 10-02-2012

My dads got a V8 SD1 that he bought in good nick in 1996 when it was about 13 years old for £600. You should have seen the look on his face when I said cars like that were going for £3000 on eBay...

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - Dum-Dum - 11-02-2012

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - Pete - 11-02-2012

Spotted a factory fresh RS1600i(about 200 mile on the clocK IIRC) linked up on PH afew weeks ago for about 25k!

I do love a RS1600i though

Mint.

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - THE_Liam - 11-02-2012

:text-goodpost:

You see that's different. I'd give 25k for what is effectively a brand new RS1600i, but the cars I posted are just second-hand cars...

Re: Are classic car dealers on crack? - Toms306 - 11-02-2012

A guy at college recently spent £2.5k on a D reg mini 1.3....with several dents...........

He coulda got a mk4 golf diesel for less! lmao
