Engine stop light GTI6 - cully - 26-05-2013

something screwy going on with my stop light
car acts drives normal exept stop light flickers flashes stays on randamly

temp gauge reads 80 ish
oil pressure light is always out once started
oil temp is good 70-90 on a run

fans work low speed and hi

looking at the drawings for tha dash
stop light is connected too
oil pressure (which is good)
engine coolant temp gauge sensor (gauge shows good)

im wondering if the ECGS has an extra switch for the stop light and this is buggered??

thoughts?

and which sensor is it as the thermostat housing has 3 in it
blue top
Brown middle
green bottom

just to answer some of my own questions
Blue - Coolant Temperature Gauge Sender
Brown - Cooling Fan Switch (found on models with aircon )
Green - ECU Coolant Temperature Sensor

Blue is dials gauge, brown is for fans/britron, green is for ecu. Get PP plugged in and check the ecu temp to make sure it's roughly the same as the gauge temp. The one on the misses car went O/C and defaulted to minus 40 degrees. Stop light only came on once because of it.

Did you ever sort this Paul?

Mines doing the same, oil pressure and coolant temp good afaik.

think it was down to frayed brake wire indicators shorting on the caliper
