RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Matt - 21-05-2013 Not gunna lie. I hate them. But this, I love the colour a lot! 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - THE_Liam - 22-05-2013 (21-05-2013, 10:39 PM)cwspellowe Wrote:(21-05-2013, 10:28 PM)Scott Wrote: tl;dr = too long; didn't read. I was close to buying one of these when I was looking for a new car but I was about a grand short of the ones that I wanted... Defo the best colour choice! RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - londondan86 - 22-05-2013 Never bbeen a big fan of the shape of the megane but I do quite like that model. The main tjing is your happy with it Just keep on top of the raccoon gaskets, I hear it's a common fault with these RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Tallguy_2 - 29-05-2013 (21-05-2013, 09:09 PM)JJ0063 Wrote:(21-05-2013, 08:27 PM)Ed Doe Wrote: Cheers mate as before, I'm interested in what you'd have gone for as an alternative to the Meg? As I said to CAR, having had a bloody hard look about I couldn't find anything more suitable that I'd actually want. Sure realistically I could have spent 3k on a BMW 320d e46 tourer and got good mpg, probably good reliability and generally more refinement and a more mature car as a whole, but f*ck getting an old man's car now! K1 Cupra, like you say understated but very nice in all respects! My dads just got an 11 plate Astra a a run around for a few months, good going up and down between somerset and Hampshire doing an avg 52 mpg, 190 BHP 6 speed diesel which is great, ordered from the factory as a dealership demonstrator, bright red with 19 inch wheels. Tastefull but surprisingly fast Personally I'd have another RS4 in a heartbeat RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Tom - 30-05-2013 What happened to the promise of loads of pictures!? 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - MissTap_GTI6 - 30-05-2013 (30-05-2013, 11:47 AM)Tom Wrote: What happened to the promise of loads of pictures!? Every time Ed raised his camera of his freshly washed car a bird would poop on it because it liked the colour, he then would have to wash and wax the car all over again, this process repeated all day until the birds went to bed. It was then too dark to take a good photo. ^ I imagine what happened. FUUU! No, I washed it on the weekend, but it was too sunny/hot to polish or wax it annoyingly. I'm planning on maybe getting it into a garage on Saturday to polish and wax it properly prior to Supercar Sunday, but we'll see.. I did get photos too btw, and will upload them later RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Ed Doe - 25-07-2013 So, it's been a while since I updated this, mostly as I'm not allowed to do any modifications so there isn't a huge amount to tell! Some pictures from the weekly cleaning I've done a fair bit of mileage in the car now, and I'm still amazed by it the more I drive it! Best thing evarr though is putting the back seats down to go for a hoon It sounds EPIC One thing I have done to the car (besides obsessively compulsively clean it) is get the front-end clear-wrapped to protect against stone chips. As standard, the leading edges of the rear arches are quite prone to stone chips, and mainly due to the roads I drive the front end is also at risk. Given the costs and difficulty of respraying Liquid Yellow, I sucked it up and got the wrap done. Very pleased with it actually. It isn't perfect; it's a 3 piece wrap on the front, but you have to be literally 2inches from the car to see it; it shines up really well and does it's job protecting the paint so I'm over the moon with it! You can just about see the wrap on the front part of the wing in the photo above. Anyway, meh, some will think it was a waste of money; I sortof don't care; it was a lot cheaper than a respray, and it means I don't now cry at finding new chips every time I clean the front bumper Sooo, that's sortof it really! It drives amazingly, I really love it, I've had 40mpg out of it on a 75mph run on the motorway on cruise control, but generally with mixed driving I've been getting about 32mpg average per tank, so it's not that expensive to run really! Some more pics, shamelessly stolen from Curt's photos thread from the weekend. Rookie error letting Ruan drive it down too; the mpg went down to 26, and he turned the traction control off and did his best to roast the tyres! So that's.... well that's sortof it for now! Nothing to tell, except that my neighbours think I'm mad because I'm out every weekend cleaning it inside and out, but meh I don't care! Thanks for reading RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Poodle - 25-07-2013 We need a pic whore section, because this sure as hell doesn't belong in the projects. :p RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Ed Doe - 25-07-2013 Hah, pipe down Poodle; you'll have to make do with a million pictures because I can't modify the car! OORRR you could pay Niall & Grant off so I can crack on with implementing my research RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - mr_fish - 25-07-2013 I bet you need sunglasses to look at that car in the sun! Looks like it gleams. Only sporty Renault I've driven was a 172 Clio and that drove nice and went fairly well...though your's is in a different league I expect. RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Ruan - 26-07-2013 Lol at the fistable arch gaps... Ed you know my thoughts on it, I can't think of a better car for split personality, it fills the role of daily and hoonmobile so well... Re: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - CJ_Derv - 26-07-2013 I like a lot Ed, and im also buying one on sunday hopefully but the 2.0 DCi so same body just not as much stuff and obv bhp, although I will be getting it mapped to 225 which should be fun, love the colour of yours im going for black as theres only 3 diesel renaultsports on auto trader atm and all 3 are black how do you rate the handling drive etc im guessing the derv will be fairly similar apart from the LSD not being present on the one im going for and maybe different suspension components maybe I dont know apparently the dervs handle just as well ive been told but shall find out Sunday 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - ben87 - 26-07-2013 Looking good just couldn't justify the mpg for me, did consider one before the polo but mpg massive factor with motorway driving every day RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - lewisdmz - 28-07-2013 Wow, little bit jealous I must admit, saw a blue 225 parked up at work the other day and thought it looked smart. The question is, for the money, do you rate it as about 5 x the car a GTi6 is? RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Niall - 28-07-2013 Must say, i dont like the car. Not my cup of tea but after having a close look this weekend, Ed has done a fantastic job of getting the paint in an immaculate condition! I could never be that anal over my paint lol Re: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - CJ_Derv - 28-07-2013 Il be joining the renaultsport club tomorrow although mine will be a derv RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Ed Doe - 28-07-2013 Lol! Cheers chaps, appreciate the kind words They handle really nicely even before the diff kicks in. You can drive it a lot like a 306 in terms of getting the back end into play with a cheeky lift or trail braking into corners to get 4wheel drift... The diff obviously offers serious hooliganism when you get to the apex of the corner and is imo a massive asset but not essential to have fun with by any means! @ Ben, I'm averaging about 33mpg without trying too hard. It does drop when giving it death though.... @ lewis, it's more car than my old 6 was simply because itis does sensible and mmaximum attack so well. My 6 was annoying to drive on the road, but as I found out yesterday, epic on track. The meg is what I want it to be when I want if that makes sense. I can dive to the shops in it. I can chuck the cruise control on and the climate control on a hot day and do miles and miles and miles in comfort. And I can decimate my favourite backroads whenever I feel that need to be a hooligan. And for me that makes it worth the money I paid. That and I wanted an immaculate car with as low mileage as possible! Thanks Niall, appreciate your comments. I know it's not everyone es cup of tea, and life would be boring I'd we all liked the same things, but I adore it! (as I'm sure you'd guessed by how much I go on about it....) Re: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - THE_Liam - 28-07-2013 It is a stunner up close, pity I never got that ride in it. Maybe in 10 years when their £1200... RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Ed Doe - 29-07-2013 ^ Shame Liam, but the weather was against us on Saturday night. Christmas meet? Nah, I grab the camera and dive out to get beading photos RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Scott - 29-07-2013 Ed, the photo sent to me by whatsapp on Saturday night says otherwise RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - ginge191 - 29-07-2013 I also witnessed "rain dodging" on the M4. Oh and "cruise-control panic" when the traffic ahead decides to drop to 59 when CC is set to 60. Rage and frustration results RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Ed Doe - 15-09-2013 For those interested in my first track outing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRcPJ9dPHBU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDKgb7MjJlA 2nd lap... excursion onto the grass, followed by a fairly big moment into the 2nd chicane. TBF being out on track with so many other cars, not knowing the track etc, trying to stay out of everyones way as well as learning the track was fookin scary! Fun, but yeah, far from perfect! Anyway, I still enjoyed it, and got into a bit of a rythm by the end (notice the corner exit speeds ) I've got lots to learn to get the most out of the car though, it's currently FAR more capable than I am!! RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Scott - 15-09-2013 Is it still processing, it's currently only in 480p? Agreed on the more capable car to be honest, only once did mine start to show signs of giving but that was likely due to over-inflated tyres. I know I could have gone faster around a lot of corners but didn't have the balls. RE: 2008 Liquid Yellow Renault Sport Megane R26 - Carlos182 - 15-09-2013 Fuuuuuuck. Keep watching the bit where you're crossed up into the chicane. So close to the tyres! However the way it gathers speed is kind of impressive! |
