Another "Help" Torsion Bar Thread! - 306Brad - 09-04-2013
In the progress of lowering the 306 and ive hit a brick wall..
Removed the ARB - OK
Removed the passenger side offset washer -OK
Drivers side offset washer seized - Not OK!
Anyone got any tips on how youve removed seized offset washers?
p.s its drowned in WD40 & ive cleared as much dirt as I can..
Next step would be a blowtorch?
Also ive been trying to bash it out with a screwdriver and hammer.. No luck!
Any tips appreciated!

Sounds stupid i know but your knocking it out the right way yeah? When they are full of crud, it can be difficult to see what side of the hole has the recess in.

I had this exact problem on Sunday!! On the same side. Ended up drowning it wd40 but found there was no room to swing a hammer. Eventually I used a small chisel and hammer but hit it in all directions to loosen it up...including hitting it face on. Would have used a blowtorch but didn't have mine to hand. Took about an hour to get it out. Good luck man...be brutal! Lol (and try not to wedge anything inside the hole in the washer as it damages the thread in the torsion bar.

And then when you've put everything back together, fill the place with silicone to stop it filling with crap again, so next time you need to adjust the height you can just pull the silicone plug out and boom, easy removal of the washer

Ive had this problem every time spent hours and hours trying to get it lots of different ways nothing worked bought some plus gas 30seconds later couple of taps and was out plus gas really does work!,

Air Chisel works wonders, But not generally a DIY tool, so the large hammer and chisel is the next best thing,

you need a really thin screw driver keep cleaning it.
Also sounds stupid but you'd be suprised how many people do it. you are using a solud metal punch and not a old srew driver or chisel with a plastic/wood handle? as any thing with a handle will take out alot of the shock from the hammer making it alot less efferlctive?

Breaking news!! Managed to get the offending offset washer out! Came down to the dremel in the end, had to cut it out then bashed it with the slide hammer! Effort.
Just bought some PlusGas off Amazon to soak the torsion bars in till ive got a weekend off to have a go!
