what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 21-03-2013 trying to decide whether to go for 185/45/15 or 195/45/15 on my new wheels. I want some stretch and I think i will need quite a bit to help getting them on being et-12 pics off tyrestretch 195 45 15 http://tyrestretch.com/albums/8_195_45_R15/8_195_45_R15_Toyo_Proxes_T1R.jpg 185 45 15 http://tyrestretch.com/albums/8_185_45_R15/8_185_45_Nankang%20%282%29.jpg what y'all think? RE: what tyres on 8j? - Piggy - 21-03-2013 you dont wana know my opinion of dangerous and useless and stupid looking stretched tyres ![]() RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 21-03-2013 you need stretch running that offset though RE: what tyres on 8j? - Piggy - 21-03-2013 then buy suitable wheels RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 21-03-2013 borrrrrring RE: what tyres on 8j? - Piggy - 21-03-2013 ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: what tyres on 8j? - Pete - 21-03-2013 Daves 306, Pretty sure theyre 185/45 on an 8x15 rim..Looks bang on and no kittens or nuns have died as a result ![]() ![]() RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 21-03-2013 Cheers mate, nankangs are the only 185's I can get, whereas 195 offers more range RE: what tyres on 8j? - Slam Wagon - 22-03-2013 Ive got 8j -20 et with 185/45 on the rear 195/45 on the front. Will grab some pics tomorrow. 185 looks good if you want stretch but i dont want to have to run cheap narrow tyres where i dont have to so ive still got my 195s up front. RE: what tyres on 8j? - Birk - 22-03-2013 Daves tyres are 195's, used to be mine ![]() RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 22-03-2013 really mate? see it all depends what brand of tyres i suppose as to how they stretch? RE: what tyres on 8j? - puglove - 22-03-2013 id personaly go for a minimum of 195. A. because 185 just dont have enough contact area with the road B. becuse nagkangs are like plastic and dont grip. it will wreck the drivablitybof the car RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 22-03-2013 what is a good brand of 195s then mate? I don't really know much about rubber lol RE: what tyres on 8j? - puglove - 22-03-2013 depends what you want to spend. im guessing yoy want somthing mid range. and value for money. yokaharma spec2s or toyo proxy's 195/50/15 will give you a really good amount of grip for the money you are spending (toyo T1R's) EBAY : spec2's £192 for 4 toyo T1R's £165 for 4 i personaly run T1R's on my 6 and they are epic compared to what eles you can buy in the price range. side walls are abit softer than id like but with you running strech this shouldnt be an issue RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 22-03-2013 What confuses me is that daves 195's look pretty stretched, whereas pe02's fronts don't look that stretched RE: what tyres on 8j? - Slam Wagon - 22-03-2013 Left: rear 185/45 nankang. Right: 195/45 kumho ![]() RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 22-03-2013 That's a good comparison cheers. I think there is quite the difference. But will I get 195's below the rear arches at et -12 RE: what tyres on 8j? - Slam Wagon - 22-03-2013 i struggled with 185 you can see above how much the top is out compared to the bottom. i did post pics in another thread of the arch work i had to have done. http://306oc.co.uk/forum/thread-11607.html in there RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 22-03-2013 Daves are et -8 and didnt need too much, you are et -20 and needed a lot....and I'm somewhere in between hahaa RE: what tyres on 8j? - Slam Wagon - 22-03-2013 Depends on 3 door or 5 door an ride height too RE: what tyres on 8j? - rd070707 - 22-03-2013 Well thats it mine is only 60mm atm and only wanna go slightly lower tbh |
