205 GTi6S - cheesegrater - 20-03-2013 Thought I'd put a small project thread together with the remaining photos I have seeing as I've somehow forgotten my dropbox password! My car started off in a sorry state having been stood down for a good 3 years or so. ![]() It had a poorly sounding 1600 engine which got swapped out for another 1600. ![]() Once the massive hole in the fuel pump was sorted I drove it for a year. ![]() I then got a tad bored with the 1600 and went for an XU10J4RS! I decided to rebuild the engine whilst it was out, it seemed silly not to. ![]() This was always going to be a fun fiddly job! I also fitted a TTV flywheel because I figured Im not pulling the, comparatively speaking, heavier shell of the 306 around. ![]() Can't remember what I was making here but heres my home brew lathe ![]() ![]() Got bored one saturday so I took the 1600 lump out! I'll update more when I get the time! RE: 205 GTi6S - 7057sam - 21-03-2013 Good work so far, what spec are you going to rebuilt it to? The lightened flywheels are great, pulls so much more harder through the rev range. RE: 205 GTi6S - cheesegrater - 21-03-2013 It was all rebuilt back up to standard. Found two bent valves and a cracked piston though! RE: 205 GTi6S - 7057sam - 21-03-2013 Ah kl you going for mi16 5 speed box or gti6. Think I've I had to reshell I'd love to put my lump in a 205. It's got a VTS gearbox out of a Xsara, I've got a D-turbo box to go in now for the longer 5th. It's a good laugh! ![]() 6 lump in! It's a tight squeeze, exhaust manifold has to be reangled to save you tilting the whole lot. I took the opportunity to put GTi6 brakes and 406 master cylinder on, I figured more power, more brakes. I ran this for about 10k and loved every minute. Had a few issues with the starter motor in the summer which I traced down to a 8'' section of solenoid wire out of the fuse box which had about 6 dodgy repairs in it! ![]() For the suspension I'm currently using eibach 30mm progressive springs with 306 Bilstein B4 dampers and 306 rear dampers. Hopefully should have a new beam in the next week or so with uprated ARB and torsion bars. RE: 205 GTi6S - 306GT30 - 21-03-2013 Great looking project mate! |
