boot light switch - C2K - 18-03-2013 Ok I've been suffering with a battery drain for a few weeks, sufficient to stop the car starting on a Monday morning. now my boot light hadn't worked for ages, but when I exchanged the unit the other day to no avail I left it plugged in, presumably dead. Got in the car this morning with seats down to haul some crap to the tip when lo and behold, the light was on...with the boot shut. It goes off with the boot opening lol, kind of backwards. is the switch built into the tailgate latch? I struggle to understand how ours started to work arse about face! Will have to lace it with wd40. Anyone had this? RE: boot light switch - silestanix - 18-03-2013 I'll post a picture of it up for ya mate, it's behind the boot panel... See the red arrows? It's that side of the boot once you unscrew the small plastic boot panel off. It's a mercury switch held in place by a plastic bracket screwed into place... RE: boot light switch - devils_fuel - 19-03-2013 Ah so that's what that is silestanix, thanks I went from a ph 2 to a 3 and back to a 2 bootlid and light no longer works ![]() RE: boot light switch - silestanix - 19-03-2013 Yeah it's literally a reed =/mercury switch mounted at an angle; as the boot comes up the mercury touches terminals together and light goes on...odd arrangement but then these are french, lol. Might be a wiring issue...? Or maybe the mercury switch itself... RE: boot light switch - devils_fuel - 19-03-2013 My old switch was in my old bootlid that's been crushed now ![]() Do you have a spare one?? RE: boot light switch - C2K - 19-03-2013 Sweet, i'll have a butchers tomorrow after work if i get a chance. Bloody thing! All along I wondered where my volts had been running off to over the weekend, then I had a light bulb above my head. ![]() RE: boot light switch - silestanix - 20-03-2013 (19-03-2013, 01:29 PM)devils_fuel Wrote: My old switch was in my old bootlid that's been crushed now I shall have a look in the shed tomorrow, if I do find one you can have it gratis lol. C2K; Its possible mate, my sister's boot switch was playing up and her battery died twice in a week, I took the mercury switch off, gave it a clean and bent the bracket a bit more, put it all together...no problems since... RE: boot light switch - 3gan - 23-03-2013 I had a problem with the boot switch I took it apart and there were two steel ball bearings inside then I could clearly see it had been fitted upside down lol I gutted it back up the correct way and hey presto try continuity on the switch once you get it then that's the correct way up god knows how long the boot lamp ha been on with the previous owners lol |
