key fob - nkelly2010 - 13-03-2013

can any one advise,my car seems to have immobilised itself, took said key into an auto shop the guy put key into machine then told me there was no transponder in the fob, would this cause car to immobilise itself.Huh

RE: key fob - Tom - 13-03-2013

Yes, the ignition barrel you put the key into has to detect a transponder in the key fob before it lets you start the car. I think.

What year engine car etc?

Im not to clued up on the petrols really, most cars do have a little chip (transponder) in the key that matches the to the ignition barrel to let you start the engine. Have you just bought the car or something? Or did it just stop working one day?

Ye defo mate no chip no start.

RE: key fob - cully - 13-03-2013

yep no chip no start!
you need to go to the place you changed the battery and check the floor

the chip is a small black thing with no legs and it is pushed into the key fob case
good luck on finding it !
