Flexible sealant, exhaust - Ricky - 09-03-2013

Is there any other sort of exhaust joint sealant that can be used instead of exhaust paste? I wan't something i bit more flexible for my downpipe, but can't find anything that can take the heat.

no exhaust paste will be flexible...

why is your flexi blowing?!

RE: Flexible sealant, exhaust - Ricky - 09-03-2013

Think you mis read it, the flexi is fine, but I need something for the v band connection off the turbo, but I hate the exhaust paste, can never get it to apply properly!

Surely just a new seal should do the job?!

It has no seal, its metal on metal.

then why does it need to be flexible chap?!

RE: Flexible sealant, exhaust - Ricky - 09-03-2013

because I basically wanted to put a bead around the turbo flange, let it set slightly then clamp the elbow to it to make a nice seal.

any flexible seelant is usually silicone based so it will jus melt eventualy better off having a hard time with the exhaust past and it working then having an easy time and it lasting a day Smile

try some dum dum, no not chris as he isnt very heatproof or spreadable, but this stuff:

it sets rock hard but if you ever need to get the two halves apart again just smack the join wiith a hammer and it shatters so piece of piss to remove again

Think I have some similar stuff around somewhere..

RE: Flexible sealant, exhaust - CJ_Derv - 10-03-2013

High temp silicone as Ruan said will take a lot of heat ive also found this, there is still a blob on my turbo elbow and its been there a good while now lol

Weve also used it on mates rs turbo - turbo manifold and had the fucker glowing and still sealed lol
